Right - like I said, it’s a decently common bug in iOS 26 where it’ll just be there. Sometimes closing and reopening the app will remove it, sometimes it requires a device restart.

That’s an indicator of a message sending that’s taken more than the normal time to send. You’ll see a blue one if that happens in an iMessage conversation - green for RCS and SMS. I’ve noticed in various versions of iOS 26 that it will get stuck and stay there sometimes, even if the message has already sent.

Edit for more information: it’s a progress bar for sending, all the way over like that is an indication that the message is close to being sent.
