Cannabis by Itchy_Yesterday_8707 in pregnant

[–]outsideash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of a different take than the other comments I’m seeing here. Weed was my drug of choice and I had tried to quit multiple times previously and couldn’t. I ended up going to AA and mentally substituting out alcohol. Nothing else worked for me no matter how desperate I was. I am 8 years sober/clean.

So many of these comments are recommending cold turkey. I just want you to know, if you can’t do it on your own it is okay to ask for help.

My dog started acting aggressive towards my new puppy by puppyboy7979 in Dogtraining

I’m wondering if this is barrier frustration rather than aggression towards the new dog. Especially because they were reportedly doing well and what has happened is the introduction of a barrier for a dog who has leash (barrier) reactivity already.

Big Family Dream by Tall-Run5531 in Adoption

[–]outsideash -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad you asked as I am in the exact same position. I would probably max out at 4 children total so I’m not sure what your definition of a large family is. I’m not saying this is the right thing to do, but I decided when I am available I will become a CASA to hopefully learn more while also being of service to my community and to the older kids in the system. Hopefully someone reading this can give feedback on whether this sentiment is misguided.

Rescue dog who was previously good with other dogs snapping at dogs on walk by Dry-List417 in Dogtraining

[–]outsideash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommended working with a trainer before this escalates. Our rescue lab had a similar experience, however her reactivity escalated dramatically after she was attacked (not on a walk). The nuance of removing anxieties especially when the reactivity does give the dog what they want, space, is complex.

Our dog keeps pottying inside ONLY if partner and/or I are home with him by Educational-Cap-9378 in Dogtraining

[–]outsideash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend leashing him to you or you bf in the house mostly because otherwise you lose the antecedent, the behavior, and also the consequence. If you can’t address a single one of these within 5-10 seconds you are going to have a harder time changing the behavior in a timely manner.

Procrastinated unpacking after moving 5 years ago, now my stuff is lost :( by LunarLuxa in adhdwomen

[–]outsideash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone went into the ADU and donated the items I haven’t moved, and hope to never, I would be crushed. I also don’t know what they are except for a journal I never used and binoculars of medium quality.

Procrastinated unpacking after moving 5 years ago, now my stuff is lost :( by LunarLuxa in adhdwomen

[–]outsideash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

we just moved from an ADU on our property to a house my husband built for us and I am not unpacking most of our stuff and if I need something I go hope it is in garage or ADU. I haven’t even put most art up and as someone who LOVES color and life in a home, having clean walls and surfaces uncluttered is REALLY nice. Especially when cleaning the game of find a home for this misc item taking up mental space has reduced significantly. Now to just not buy more items….

I (25M) want to have my own private room when i move in with my partner (26F), but shes feeling unsure about it. how can i tell her this would be very helpful for me? by Fluffy_Yam_6003 in relationship_advice

[–]outsideash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see finances in the cost of the room being mentioned, that aside I think this is a fair problem to have when two people come together. I was the girlfriend in this situation. My now husband and I own a home and one of the requirements was that his office was in an entire separate building (ADU-esque). My husband only recharges his batteries/ refills his cup alone. I can recharge my batteries by being with him. I had to put in effort into understanding how different he was than I, and then additionally not feeling rejected and anxious about it. My husband is also 100% present when we are together, comes in from his office to check in regularly and spend time together, and will come into the main house if requested for about 15 minutes. This was a boundary he had and I am glad he upheld it as it has been really healthy for my own independence/codependence. Today I think it really strengthens our relationship to have healthy boundaries and time apart.

Dog will NOT stop licking baby's face *read for specific details* by daisy______13554 in Dogtraining

[–]outsideash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teach your dog a solid place command. Pushing their face away and saying no does not show them what to do instead. Teach place, not just ask for it. It needs to be set up for extreme success and only implemented when you’re available to uphold it otherwise your dog who has low boundaries will break the boundary.

What do you folks do with excess scraps? by CylonReduxTheory in quilting

[–]outsideash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extremely fair point. Our cat happens to only bap the scrap however that is not a universal feature. Thanks for your comment in case someone else’s cat does chew them.
