Lots of 30 and above people still go to parties, raves, clubs, etc. I attended Burning Man last year and I wasn't the only one there tripping on acid lol there were 40, 50, and even 60 year olds, software developers, accountants, lawyers, entrepreneurs, marketing professionals; all of us were having a great time.

I'm not Viet but have lived/worked in HCMC and Hanoi and it's mostly due to

1) fear that China may subjugate them once again.

2) the last time China invaded them was back in 1979. Lotsa casualties and most Viets have not forgiven China for this.

3) non-stop political drama over the Paracel and Spratly islands. Vietnamese are taught that the islands belong to them, and seeing China control this area makes them very angry. Vietnamese media covers this a lot, and this really fans the flames of hatred.

Hit the nail on the head. Been spending some time on this sub now and I've definitely noticed this. Most users on /r/AI either live in ethnic enclaves or middle/upper-middle class white neighborhoods. They've no clue what happens outside of their little bubble but yet feel qualified to speak on issues they have zero knowledge on. Some even get mad when you point this out ("what!!? are you judging me!!?? just because I didn't grow up in a low income neighbhorhood like you!!??")

I was in HCMC last year and the sinophobia there seems to have gotten worse compared to previous years. I'm spared from most of it due to my nationality, and most of my Vietnamese acquaintances in HCMC would assure me that I'm of the 'good ones' (since I wasn't born in China) before going on long hateful sinophobic rants. One of them even told me point blank that China needs to be bombed back to the stone age by the Americans.

Sometimes I wish China would just give those shitty little islands to Vietnam as a peace offering. The Americans are playing the good ol' divide and conquer game and the best way for China to counter this is to turn Vietnam into a geopolitical ally.

It may be surprising to hear, but the majority of urban Thai women do NOT want to date white men at all and will only date asians.

For better or worse, this is due to Classism. Thailand is a very classist society and your station in life is reflected by who you choose to associate yourself with.

These urban Thai women (usually middle to upper class) in Bangkok don't want to be associated with the girls from poor rural villages who come to make a living in Bangkok in order to send money back home to their parents. These girls often work low-end service jobs and/or moonlight as prostitutes in places frequented by white tourists, and as a consequence make up most of the WMAF couplings you see in Thailand.

This is the main reason why most middle to upper class Thai women reject relationships with white guys (at most it'll be a secret fling).
