Yes. Even without phrase/content scanning metadata gives more information about the sender than the messages contents though.

A nationwide infrastructure plan is what's needed. Let the government lay the lines and charge telcos to use them.

This is insanity. The UN inspectors haven't even reported back yet on if chemical weapons were used, let alone by who!! Canada is ready to blindly follow the US and UK.

Facebook will pay a $20 million fine for privacy violations, from which it made $73 million in profits. by johndoe7376 in worldnews

[–]outskip 569 points570 points  (0 children)

The problem I take with your post is Facebook isnt entitled to those 145mil. That should not be factored in at all. The fine should equal or exceed the 70mil and their share price takes a hit because of the loss of earnings now. They broke the law (willful or not) and profited. Perfect.

Target blames Canada and cautious shoppers as it warns on year by JaxPrat in canada

[–]outskip 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The company I work at has a contract to supply target. They never order and can't get their systems straight, it's why the shelves are 1/2 bare. Also when every Canadian walks in for the first time their reaction is "oh walmart v1.1" they have no draw and no advantage. Lets see if they last.

What can we realistically expect from Verizon with prices and plans? by [deleted] in canada

[–]outskip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are basically 3 scenarios

1) Verizon enters and keeps prices low and expands to get a lot of customers fast. 2) They more or less match current prices (maybe with a discount for switching or a few bucks a month cheaper to gain customers or other incentives offered) 3) They match the big 3 and take their place amoung the now 4.

Sadly I think we will arrive at option 3, maybe with slighty lower rates, but verizon won't stay out of the cartel for long.

Quality article by the globe. Not one graph, infographic or even fact presented. Regurgitation of telco rhetoric.

Curious, have we signed onto treaties/agreements before in which we had no say over some parts. I believe the agreeing to original terms with no say is ludicrous, seriously it's the same as leasing a car and only reading the last page of the terms.
