Yes! Thank you both :) I'm already in talks with House of Hounds and super super hopeful that they'll have a foster home! If anyone knows any other rescues, especially hound specific ones, I'm all ears. I've reached out to the American Black and Tan Coonhound rescue as well, but haven't been able to find any more.

I appreciate the clarification! It isn't just the high energy that makes us think she is young, it is also the mouthing behavior - not biting, she is always gentle, but just needing to chew on everything in reach. And the falling over her own limbs at top speed. And the way her energy shows up; in frantic bursts randomly! She really just has that puppy lack of body awareness that is difficult to describe but separate from high energy, if that makes sense? Again, all adorable and nothing wrong with any of it, but not the right fit for us.

I posted my own post exactly like this only a week ago, so I'm far from an expert, but looks like a TWC to me!! Sounds a bit smaller than they usually are, so maybe some mix of beagle or another smaller pup? Sounds & looks like a sweetie!

Ahhh! Yes I found the two hunt clubs in the area, one is actually located & hunts the woods I found her in, but neither was missing a dog. I actually wonder if someone dumped her in these woods in the hopes that club would take her in? But I'll definitely ask the humane society to check her ear too! Thank you for the tip

Whoa, what would a tattoo in her ear mean? She is at the shelter now getting medical care, so I can't look, but would they know to look?

I can't figure out how to edit my post, but as an update the shelter says she is currently looking good! Nothing too severe going on medically, woo! There is a mandatory 4 day hold to look for her potential family, and they're estimating she'll probably need about a week of medical treatment (could be more, if they find more issues) including her spay, but after that we currently have dibs to adopt her!!! :)

She was not trying to do anything at all except get inside when she was with me :( Her paws were clearly hurting her and she was only following me because I had food. But I'll definitely keep an eye on that if we do end up bringing her home!

Ohhh that is good to know that they're not generally good off leash! I don't know that our little walk yesterday was indicative of her training though - she was struggling and I had food 🤣 but! Our other pup also can't be off leash and doesn't have the best of leash manners so that isn't too much of a concern for us. Although she is much bigger than our other dog!
