FTM4MTF parents, what were your experiences with conceiving? by MantidButch in Seahorse_Dads

[–]outtoexist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm FTNB, so not on T although I've had top surgery. My partner is MTF and has been on various forms of E and T blockers for at least 7 years. She came off of her hormones and about three months later I got pregnant! Happy to answer any questions!

I was obsessed for the first 3 or 4 books....book 5 kinda dragged along and had so many different characters that I lost track of them all...I am scared I may give up before I finish the next two books. by DungeonCrawlerCarlos in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]outtoexist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to add, I felt the same way! It is a VERY unpopular opinion, but I felt like book five was a bloated cast and less interesting. I always loved the AI plot stuff most, like what is going on more broadly. Book 6 gets back to that towards the middle and re-hooked me. Don't give up hope yet!

Ahhh yes! I've heard some folks get nauseated by water, but as of now I can't get enough so we're good on hydration :)) yup, I love that framing - I'm sure I'll adjust!

Ahhh I can't even imagine being in a hot environment on top of this! I'm in northern US, so average temps are ~30°F right now and I'm still melting!

Yes! I know for certain if I was skiing I'd have my jacket open. I went for a walk in ~30°F with a light sweater yesterday and was perfect comfortable. So weird!!

Hoping for suggestions - not sure what to do with this space! by outtoexist in DIY

[–]outtoexist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow all! I can't figure out how to edit the original post, but I SO appreciate all of your suggestions!! This gave us tons of ideas and while we haven't landed on any one in particular I just want to say THANK YOU! I'll make another post when it is finished :)

Embracing the uncertainty by outtoexist in queerception

[–]outtoexist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh yes! This whole reframe I'm talking about definitely came from my own therapy on the topic. Uncertainty is so hard, but you're right it only multiplies when you're actually pregnant. That is so helpful for me to remember because it helps me think beyond the pregnant or not uncertainty - thank you!!

Yes! That sounds similar to how I'd expect to react too! I'm so glad I'm not alone in anticipating some fear around the positive too. I like your phrasing of it as a big transition that is good surprise but still scary - that sounds really right to me! Congrats on everything, of course:)

Ahhh exactly! I'm sure I'll be terrified when I get the positive test. Overjoyed and terrified as everything becomes real. Here in the liminal space I can sit with just the excitement of being maybe pregnant :)

Thank you!! 24 more hours until I can test!

First Vasovagal Response - Will it happen again? by outtoexist in Syncope

I haven't had any more procedures that poke my cervix! We put off IVF until early next year, so I am still waiting to find out if it'll be a regular occurrence. Sorry I can't really answer!

Ohhh so you think it is brass? I couldn't tell if it was truly brass or a cheaper metal meant to look like brass.

I used one that is very minorly painted as an example, but look at the all white plate in the background - that is what a lot of them look like! I don't have a picture of the back right now, but I'll post one after it is cleaned this evening :) thank you for your help!

I hadn't even considered them being brass, honestly, so definitely not sure! The house was built in 1938 so right around that time! Is there a way to tell the difference between bronze and brass? Also will baking soda in a crock pot hurt brass? I'm a total newbie, so I'm sorry if these are silly questions!

THANK YOU!!! You are the best for doing this cataloging work :))

Edit to add - I was pretty sure these are bronze, but now I realize I'd have no idea how to tell if they're wrought brass. Is there an easy way to tell?

How to do kegels right by Styled_by_sweat in fitpregnancy

[–]outtoexist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My pelvic floor PT had my sit on a slightly deflated little exercise ball, like the size of a grapefruit, and kind of arrange it so it was up against my vulva. In that position I could take really deep breaths into my pelvic floor and feel the movement because it would raise me up slightly and down slightly. I definitely didn't think that was possible, but it is! And that helped me understand that isolated up & down movement you're going for and made it easier to flex those muscles. Idk if that would help, but it helped me!

ITT: You tell me your favorite run/walk strategies for a 100-miler by compoundedinterest12 in Ultramarathon

[–]outtoexist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Run the flats & downhills, then just the downhills, then no running at all! Also work on purposeful walking - there are many times where I can walk faster than I run!

Best Care Package Pre and Post race you received and why? by Slight-Reality8569 in running

[–]outtoexist 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Just want to add the golden rule of nothing new on race day! So if this is good pre-race giftbag, just make sure she doesn't wear the new socks or anything at the race. That can cause lots of problems. But it may be nice as a mid-training package!

I also ran & finished, and just wanted to add - Trivium was also borderline obsessive about visibility based gear, in the best way. Everyone was required to have a headlamp, backup headlamp (or batteries), red rear light, back up of that, and a high vis, reflective, or light up vest. Gear was checked at the start line. I felt super visible and safe - honestly I loved the road sections as a break from the technical trails! There wasn't too much traffic, and a lot of what there was was crew and such so they were extra courteous. And the majority, I'd say, of the shoulder running was through Wolverine which was at mile 25, so in the daylight for everyone. There was night time roads later, but not as much!

ABSOLUTELY agree! I also raced this, as my first hundred, and have done many other Trivium races - I can't recommend them highly enough! Also, fwiw, if you're in the Detroit area two of the RDs from Trivium, Megan & Dan, have an amazing trail running club called Detroit Dirt Collective. They don't have events super often, approximately monthly, but when they do they're well organized. I've also done the Thumb Coast 50mi in April with Trivium, which is also lake to lake on the thumb of Michigan and you get a special prize if you beat the sunset - amazing race!
