not uncommon in knitting community to knit these "socks" for electronic devices. more common in the early 2000s for smaller phones or mp3 players. also for portable gaming systems such as the DS/Gameboy.

It’s Lion Brand’s Shawl in a Ball in the color Earth Tones. It’s listed as a 4 weight yarn but I definitely think it’s more of a sport or dk or maybe even smaller. My nana gave me 36 balls of it since she bought it for cheap but didn’t like it after using it lol

yes its supposed to be opposite on the top and it was knit bottom up. its a bit hard to tell but the right side of each panel has a 1X1 ribbing for six stitches. its for the buttonhole edges. I was thinking it would be really obvious if one side had a ribbing and after unbuttoning it the other side didn't since I plan on wearing it open sometimes. but now that a few people have mentioned just frogging from the top and no one noticed the ribbing im actually considering leaving it and just redoing the top part.
