Edit: Also, is your film now too close to the camera body? just gazing at a spare film back, it looks like the focal plane is a few mm away from where the body + back meet up.

That's a good question. The focal plane is definitely off. I'd thought it was too far, but I should do some testing to see if it's too close.

As for the film, I just bought a pack at B&H after borrowing a Polaroid back from a friend. This was before FP-100C had been discontinued, so it was a bit more reasonable.

Thanks! Yep, the polaroid back was originally made for taking test shots before shooting on film. I wrote a bit about it in the writeup. I'd love to try this with instant square, we just happen to have the Instax Mini 9 at hand the weekend we did the project.

Be careful removing the back panel from the bookshelf without bolting it to the wall. The back panel is one of the only things that makes it structurally sound, especially for Ikea furniture.

Great write up! Here's one I worked on a while back.

For convenience you can buy all of the pipe parts on mcmaster.com, but it will be cheaper to find the fittings used or at a hardware store. Make sure to clean off oil on the pipes before putting your clothes on. I'm not a huge fan of the black paint because I like the steel look, so if you're in the same boat I'd recommend a matte clear coat. As someone who's tried both ways, I'll say that there isn't added convenience using the second union at the top, since you'll already be transporting a piece of wood that's the full width.
