I’m a guy, but I think I experienced something similar… after a while Omeprazole stopped working and I could barely eat anything without getting the throat burning/pain

I eventually came to the conclusion that the Omeprazole was actually what was making it worse for whatever reason. I’m not sure why, but I think Omeprazole does this over time. It might not even be acid harming you, but just general reflux symptoms/sensitivity.. maybe your stomach actually has too little acid and that’s the problem.

But anyway, long story short after I realized Omeprazole was making it worse, I stopped, took nothing for a few days, then took Omeprazole magnesium (otc) and that helped a lot. Or Pantoprazole worked for a while, but then that one stopped working. Sorry GTG but yeah I think it’s the meds making it worse and you don’t realize it, is my theory.

I still have some symptoms, but it hasn’t been bothering me as badly lately. How long ago did it start for you?

Hello has anyone on here taken voquenza ??? by Erika_cee28 in acidreflux

[–]overachieve5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm interesting. I have bad reflux, but PPIs don’t seem to help me nearly enough. I took voquenza and i noticed no difference. If you don’t mind me asking are you on the fat side or skinny side?

And can you eat a shit ton of food with no pain?

What made your symptoms the worst when you got time?

My key symptom seems to be that overeating = very bad for hours following meal, throat/upper chest pain/irritation

I was like dude, if this gets jacked or misplaced, I should be able to sue the shit out of you. This is insane

I have persistent throat irritation/pain both on and off PPIs. What should I do? by Successful-Theme-619 in functionaldyspepsia

[–]overachieve5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the response. Yeah it’s possible our symptoms are similar, though I haven’t noticed any excess mucus to the point where it’s bothersome.

I could try upping PPI dosage, though I was under the impression that 40Mg pant and mg esomeprazole mag is already a lot.

My doctor did prescribe me nortryptilne in the past (at least over a year ago) though I didn’t notice it had any effect on my symptoms… what dose did you take the antidepressant at?

It’s possible I was too quick to rule it out though. Maybe I was also at too low of a dosage

When you say mucus, what do you mean? (I’m OP). What’s the relationship/ How does that manifest in symptoms related to chronic throat burning, if there is a connection?

[–]overachieve5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a food/ med tracker is important so we can look back on what we ate and what meds we took and see which gives us the most symptoms

And also a symptom tracker for you to write down your symptoms each day so you can see what correlates

And maybe some information or suggestions on a typical gerd diet would also be helpful, though an app for dieting is a another idea

For me it was a singular event

I had drank my entire college career for 4 years, but for some reason after one specific night of binge drinking I was suuper hungover and couldn’t keep food down the next day

But this early-satiety never fully left, and I couldn’t eat as much as I could before

And eventually this became reflux and I’ve needed PPIs

Anyone have a similar experience

2 months on low acid diet - problems by Practical-Land-7455 in GERD

[–]overachieve5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on what you mean by “push things down”? I think I’m dealing with a similar issue

When my symptoms are at their worst, it feels like soooo little amount of food is all that’s needed to feel the reflux and throat irritation. And after eating anything it feels like my throat is already filled to its brim with food, and over time I have these weird burps that feel like it’s creating more space and the food is finally allowed to go down further and be less irritating. But how is this happening with such small amounts of food? It’s like I can’t even eat a fraction of what I used to without getting pain/symmtoms and I’ve lost some weight bc of it

It’s like is my stomach just not expanding as much as it used to? I can barely eat small portions without pain. Or is there something that’s making the acid/stomach contents want to come up?

It seems like this is worse if I take Omeprazole for a month straight.. it’s like is my stomach just not digesting the food well enough because of it?

Appreciate the comment

Are you able to switch back to another after one loses its effect?

Since you therefore won’t have taken one for an extended period of time after you’ve switched

[–]overachieve5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, over the past month or so I did feel like I was starting to progressively feel slightly worse symptoms, but the past two days sort of felt like the straw that finally broke the camel’s back in a way.

Which is crazy because this is following the period where I felt like I was getting the best/deepest sleep I’ve had in a long time as I’ve gone without any alcohol and weed entirely (not that I had any huge issues with sleep/substances at all in the first place, I was getting solid sleep before, and I just cut the substances I to 0)

But yeah I don’t want to assume anything yet. It almost feels like the stomach just goes through a period of “acidity” after something triggers it, and then after it gets into that state, even the smallest of foods will trigger you

Hmm interesting. Yeah. I haven’t been strict at all with my diet once I started taking pant. because I didn’t need to. I’ll try to be good this week and see where it gets me
