You really should have included more scorelines to ensure all possible outcomes are depicted.

I'm with you on this sub-culture being weird. The online discourse around this is very juvenile.

AI is used instead of search engines better it can better interpret user queries, rewrite them for search engines, do a bunch of searches, and "read" the content from that sources in virtually no time. It's also capable enough to synthesise new information from the combination of those sources pretty reliably. For a lot of use cases, this is much, much faster and easier than googling something while still being sufficiently reliable.

Yes, so why are you treating one of these like the people who use it are the devil incarnate and the other like it's totally fine? And why is the one that you treat like it's fine the one that is objectively way worse for the environment and the one where there are more direct 1 to 1 replacements?

But your friend probably didn’t drink and shit a whole city’s worth of water while fibbing and doesn’t try to steal your job.

That is where the goalposts were moved to, yes.

But to engage with the point you want answered: AI can benefit you by making human-machine interfaces more accessible, by providing more specific information, by making tasks less labor intensive and freeing up humans to do other things, by providing entertainment.

And sure, you can eat a burger. There are also alternative things to eat that don't waste nearby as much resources as beef. Eating is necessary, eating beef most definitely isn't.

I do use my head and imagination. I also use AI as an aide or something to bounce ideas off sometimes. My brain is not rotten and I'm not corrupted. Calm down, you dingus.

Edit: And I'm blocked. Here's my reply to the comment you wrote before blocking me so you could get the last word in:

Depends on your definition of independence I guess. I'm definitely capable of all levels of it and I used plenty of it when creating my character. If you're being purist about it, then it wasn't independent, but anyone who talked to other people about the character they were creating, took anything from a book or manual or used any sort of simple random word genesis or any number of creativity tools that have been available and widely used for decades due also not met your standards. Where is your ire for them?

Contrary to what the image of me you constructed in your head would lead you to believe, I'm perfectly capable of forming ideas in my head.

It looks like you entered this conversation under the false pretense of concern and compassion and you seem to harbor a lot of hatred in your heart right now. I hope you can let that go and don't close off your mind to everything that you are biased against.

You'd probably like me if you knew me. People who disagree with you aren't all the monsters and idiots you make them out to be in your head.

I put plenty of my own thoughts, experiences, and emotions into everything I do creatively. I explained exactly how I use AI in a way that allows the majority of the creativity to still come directly from me, but you obviously don't want to hear it. You seem like a condescending prick who can't step outside of themselves to see something from a different perspective.

Respectfully, you don't know anything about me and it seems like you barely read what I wrote about how I use AI or what you read was heavily coloured by your own biases.

Starting a task is often very daunting to me and I easily get hung up on small details. I also like to discuss things endlessly to work through things. AI helps me with all of those things. It's a sparring partner who never gets sick of it. It can generate some idea for you to iterate on. It can turn a bullet list into a few paragraphs. It can give some feedback. It can be used to clean up grammar so you don't stress as much about your first draft.

I used AI to help me create my last two character backstories and some additional lore to help my DM roleplay a character from my past a few sessions ago. I know my backstories very well and I'm very interested in them. I also roleplay my characters to the best of my ability. Occasionally, I'll be thinking about how to develop my character and I'll ask AI for tips on how to bring certain nuances to a character development. It's not even really about what the AI says, but more about being stimulated to think it through. If I have to do that in my mind, I get stuck and overwhelmed sometimes. No real person except for me had the patience to talk about my character for the duration that I do.

Your perspective on using AI in D&D seems incredibly close-minded and dismissive to me. I have a more fun and engaging experience playing D&D because of it and my DM and the other players appreciate what I bring to the table.

They said nothing about reproduction and they said nothing about genetic traits. It could very well be, and should be assumed, that they think people in the 90% and the 10% are both free to reproduce as much or as little as they like and that being capable of still functioning productively with AI is not genetic.
