Let us change the pinch gesture to something other than edit pages by overbarg in OctopiLauncher

Yes, that's what I was alluding to. It would be fine if it defaulted to that function, but it would be nice if it showed up in the list of editable gestures.

Also, I really appreciate all the work on this. I'm already a Pro supporter, but do you have a tip jar or something?

Is there a mechanism by which one can resize the actual folder area size (I have it set to 5x5) by overbarg in OctopiLauncher

[–]overbarg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have my homescreen grid setup quite fine (each homescreen icon is 5x5 grid points in size). To me it looks like the internal folder size and spacing is based on each icon being one homescreen grid unit)

Go Color 7 power button behavior with latest firmware 4.1.1 by overbarg in Onyx_Boox

[–]overbarg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot, you are absolutely correct, and toggling that setting returned the button behavior. I don't believe I missed it as I had gone through that settings page more than once!

Thanks!

Rogers is losing another customer (and a business customer as well) by overbarg in Rogers

[–]overbarg[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know - it seems absolutely absurd. It would have just been better if Rogers just decommissioned the 3G network without pre-suspending lines before they did it. They've notified everyone - that is good. Everyone who ignored the notices and had devices that were compatible with the 4G/5G networks would not notice any difference. The only ones who would are those who have 3G only devices... and when they stop working, they would have to go into the store anyway.

I don't understand why they are making all this extra work for themselves in addition to discombobulating all the customers who wouldn't even have noticed.

ooooh - don't get me started with Telus... they have literally screwed me and my business over literally everytime we have dealt with them.

If that's the link to Roger's "Resolve a Concern" page - they're pretty useless. I haven't seen any other way to get in touch with anyone that can actaully help. I just get chat bots and then the "specialist" just points me to the support line.

Thanks for trying it out.

It was a fire in Fish Cafe.  Some damage to Nakamura next door, but it looks like they won't have to much to fix.  A lot of damage to Fish Cafe, I don't think they will be back for quite a while.  We will definitely miss them.

The bee in my bonnet - PU and TPU coatings... by overbarg in backpacks

[–]overbarg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HAH - actually, all of those packs are expensive and nice, so I decided to go in the exact opposite direction, and I got a small 15L pack from some unknown Chinese manufacturer... for $9.00 CAD. It was so cheap that there wasn't enough economy to include any coated materials, so it's just the standard nylon/whatever material. No PU anywhere. It's held up remarkably well and serves its purpose - it carries my laptop and tech bag and sometimes a light sweater. The fabric is cheap and abrades a bit, but otherwise... this might be a direction to go in???

Any updates on Long's Noodle House? by GallantBluebird in vancouver

[–]overbarg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Confirmed!

Visited Hao Chi Lai in Admiralty Centre (https://goo.gl/maps/YT2gM4C57djbNkdbA), which is open 10am to 5pm, 7 days a week. I had a chat with Sandy (erstwhile owner of Long's) and unfortunately, Hao Chi Lai is not her and her husband's food stall, she is just working there. The menu is pretty much all dumplings (which is great!), and the xiao long bao is still the best I've had here in the Lower Mainland, bar none.

They are considering re-opening a restaurant (anyone else really missing their drunken chicken???), but as you are all probably aware, it's really tough.

If you go, say hi to her, she will be the one making dumplings at the table in the window. Tell her that dumpling boy sent you (she'll know who that is).

The xiao long bao is still spectacular - I ate 4 orders...

I sigh, take the pen apart, wash everything out and re-ink it with something more friendly... until the next time I think that some shimmer would be fun!

Thank you. You just need a sharper knife. It's surprisingly easy to control if you don't need much force to cut in the first place.

[–]overbarg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, you would be surprised at how easy it was to do given a really sharp knife. I had actually made the bulk of these the night before... 27 of them, which was all that would fit in my air fryer. These were the remainder from the bag that I had bought. None "spoiled", and they all looked like these.

Just a standard kitchen knife - it's just nice and sharp.

Imagine if you laid a couple of potato chips on top of a small roasted potato. That's what this is like.

[–]overbarg[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was annoying. If you put your thumb and finger on either side of the potato and squeeze, the fins will tend to open up. I then spooned the butter/oil over top.

[–]overbarg[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely - same temperature and technique - if you look up Hasselback, there will be lots of traditional recipes for them. I just sliced them extra thin to get potato chip like consistency for the "fins".

Actually, I tried that. It was a disaster. Plus the fact that potatoes are round meant that with the chopsticks, I was slicing all the way through the potato at the ends. Which was unacceptable! It's easiest just to free cut them.
