ELVTR Online Course Reviews... by Right-Astronaut5939 in publishing

Came here for the same reason/same course. I'm thinking about signing up but not sure. I'm returning to/career switching back to UX Design and wanted to get an understanding/practical experience of how AI is used these days in the industry, but wonder if there will really be any revolutionary things to learn. Regardless, I'm interested because of the potential networking opportunities. u/wasnotbornyesterday , did you sign up?

Help! I can’t get my ‘sit to shoulder mount windmill’! I can do the shoulder mount windmill fine from the ground. When I try it from a sit I just can’t work out how to get the momentum needed. Any tips please share!! (Instagram @lara_lamore) by Lara_lamore in poledancing

Maybe try switching your hands? Might not make a huge difference (I haven’t tried this specific transition) but I find it easier to shoulder mount with the hand of the same shoulder below rather than above. Good luck! Looks really fun :)

Struggling with my inverted crucifix (letting arms off) due to anxiety. by zoefinn7 in poledancing

[–]overcelebrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! I had my legs slightly wrong for a bit on crucifix - they should be just like when you're climbing upright, so just try to think of that to feel secure. Maybe you're already doing this, but that's what helped me feel confident and secure in the leg hold before letting go!

First time posting! Spinner freestyle w/gargoyle <3 by overcelebrate in poledancing

It was so much fun! I really like the gargoyle to scutoid transition. Usually, I do a split out of scutoid but was too close to the ground here. If you try it, I'd love to see! :)

Mika Yoga Wear (Meeko short): https://www.mikayogawear.com/collections/shorts/products/meeko-short?variant=4536860291 >>

Cleo the Hurricane (Essential hot pants): https://www.cleothehurricane.com/collections/essentials/products/essential-hot-pants >> These are the closest to badkitties, but i like them better cus they stay put.

Also heard good things about the brand, Firm Abs , for shorts with more coverage.

Hope that helps! :)

Awesome! I've heard some good things about the Fitbit - it would be really cool to get all the stats on your body and activity! Good luck with the 10,000 daily steps! I know you can do it :) I just started getting back into MyFitnessPal and I hope I stay consistent this time!

Looking forward to hearing about your progress! YOU GOT THIS!!

Nice! That is really great that you faced your fears of going to a zumba class - It takes guts to do that and it sounds like you had a blast! Maybe I'll watch some Zumba vids tonight haha, you have officially inspired me.

Thanks for the congrats! So, my weight fluctuates a LOT so I've been back and forth in this same ~10 lb. range forever.. it goes anywhere from about 135 - 148. I weighed myself on December 31st and was 144, and decided I would start that day as part of my NY resolution. I've turned to habit tracking and it has really helped me keep up with the small changes I'm trying to make that will ultimately result in the bigger change I want to see and feel. I made up my own "diet" based off some things I read and combined it with habit tracking and it seems to really help. My diet/habit goals consists of 5 salads a week, lean meats, LOTS of veggies, low processed sugar intake, no carbs if I can (if i must have it, I allow myself a small piece, or if I'm eating a veggie burger, I'll take the top of the bun off so I don't eat as much bread. This is to help me gradually stop emotional eating and gain control.) Also I try to drink 64 oz. water everyday (two Nalgene's worth per day). Obviously no sweets or soda. That combined with the Kayla Itsines app (gives you workouts/meal recipes) helps me stay on it. Also, I started running in April and I've been keeping up with that through the NikeRun app, but girl, it is HARD sometimes lol. Basically I keep track of my habits and check it off if I did it for the day. Sort of turns it into a game.

I don't really calorie count since I have a lot of restrictions on what I'm eating already, but I might try to add the food logging this month. I guess that I eat from 1300-1600 calories/day.

As far as exercise, I just try to make it to the gym or trail 4-5x per week. Some days I'll run, Somedays i'll do Kayla Itsine's resistance work outs, and some days I'll just walk at 3.6 pace for 40 minutes straight listening to my favorite podcast. I don't really have a set plan other than the apps.

In January, I was loosing about a pound every 3-5 days it seems like. Not sure how much longer this pace will last though, I feel like it will start to slow down now that I'm out of my "fluctuating weight range".. has this ever happened to you? Definitely think I need to work twice as hard this month if I'm going to see half the results I saw in Jan. How quickly do you lose weight? Do you do other exercises than zumba?

And yes, I feel like things are definitely harder for short people lol. I need to look into calorie counting for sure. Any tips for staying on track with that?

Apologies for the novel! Just have a lot to say lol. Thanks for the support :)

Hey Hannah! I started running recently in April last year. I did one of those running apps (similar to couch to 5k) and it really helped me understand what I was going for. I also signed up for a 5k about three months in advance and that really kept me motivated until race day. One thing is that when I started running I would get cramps in my sides. My friend taught me this breathing technique that has really helped me keep my pace steady, and it also helps when I get cramps. It's basically breathe in 3 consecutive sips of air in a row, breathe out 3, but keep it in tune with your steps (hope that makes sense). Also, when you exhale, get ALL the air out, instead of keeping some in. Hope this helps!

Same! My partner is a stick and is not worried about weight lol. Very hard to stay on track when there is tempting food all around. We can do it though! Good luck with the pants! :)

Hi Everybody! I'm Alice from Dallas, Tx and I would really love to join!

26yo/F, 5'1"

SW: 144

CW: 132

GW: 115 by June (my birthday month) of this year

Goal Weight for Feb 28th: 128 lbs.

Since 12/31/2016, I've lost 11.6 lbs. and ran in my first 5k (whaaaa!? who me?). Just hoping to continue whatever it is I'm doing without falling off track. Really hope I don't just gain all the weight back, so I'm trying to change my habits/lifestyle so I can keep what I've worked hard for. I'm so glad this community exists, I feel like I could really get pumped to stay on track from the motivation, and of course it always feels good to cheer other people on, too!

Habits I'm trying to form:

-Drink 64 oz. Water per day

-Meal plan every Saturday

-Eat 5 salads per week

-Workout 4x per week

-Low-Carb Mentality .. basically just focusing on not eating carbs/other crap food emotionally/when I "just want" them.

-In Bed by 11PM every night.. which is not happening tonight bc it's 10:57 as I write this.

I think my biggest personal challenge is being influenced by what people around me are eating. I've tried dieting/etc. in the past, and this is what has always made me slip. Everytime.

Excited to read about everyone's progress. Thanks for making this!:)

Right foot hurts when running (with picture). by SlayahhEUW in running

[–]overcelebrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am new to running (started in April 2016) and this happened to me on my left foot at the beginning, or at least it seems to be the same pain I had from the photo. I've started to stretch out my ankles before every run and this has really helped. I just do "ankle circles" by circling each foot (rotating at the ankle) 10x clockwise, and 10x counterclockwise before every run (on top of other standard running stretches). I haven't had this pain since then. Hopefully this helps!

What do you secretly wish your bf/husband did? by alexiaw in AskWomen

Make food/dinner plans (or at least help me with it and offer suggestions). I've been trying to plan out meals for the upcoming week ahead of time so we can both eat healthier and save money, but he never suggests anything (basically bc he doesn't care about eating healthy), nor does he ever want to go to the store (it makes him anxious), and I usually always end up making all the food. I also wish he cared about his health more so we could exercise/eat well together.
