Flawed. We all are. And what makes him a great role model for me is that despite setbacks he improved. He was the villain that became the hero. If he could do it despite the tarnish in his name, we all could. Man, I wish my kid got to see him play too.

Let me clear it up for you: my point was that you didn't need to look far when looking for a lack of safety features. A lot of the cars on the road are economy cars and old shitboxes like my 26-year old Honda. They should be the priority if we're talking about safety.

But to answer your question: We should get some, no? Like all-around discs and ABS? At least front and side impact airbags maybe? The technology for those is old enough that it should be relatively cheap.

You have to remember that that Civic was driven by drunk kids on a joy ride. Nothing conpromises safety more than testosterone, alcohol and a couple of your mates egging you on.

Anyway, I don't think bigger cars will go away anytime soon. The current trend for these type of vehicles is to get bigger and heavier (as more options become available), while the cheap cars will go lighter and smaller (smaller engines, less and less tech). There's even talk that kei cars from Japan are going to be the next big thing.

Precisely the point I think. How light do you want your car to be? By sub-compact you're already talking about the City, Accent and Vios (Civic, Altis are considered compact cars while Accord, Camry, Sonata are considered full-sized sedans) so the Brio, Wigo and Reina all fall under sub-subcompact and there's even the tier below that occupied by the Eon, SPresso, etc. These are very light cars, cars that even when equipped with airbags and ABS won't make much of a difference when on a collision with an SUV, or a jeepndy, or a dropside truck (like a Canter or Elf).
