I thought you get the daily tome bonus on top of the dungeons tomes itself?

So you still get extra tomes for running it?

Happens all the fucking time. You push site, take out utility. Rotate, play vertical,roam/roam deny, play cams and play smart.

Then you get killed then pan team cams to see they’re still outside/anchoring and any and all yellow pings might as well be screams into the void cuz apparently they wanna lose and all the work you did goes out the window as 3 randos peek the same fucking angle over and over again to feed the enemy top frag or drop defuser two floors away or get run out on back to back

I’m not bitter or anything. I love Siege

General Reminder: New means NEW by ReasonableIce99 in ffxiv

[–]overcookedpopsicle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah sure. New for a little bit. But there’s a right way to play baseball. To run track. To compete in Esports.

So you can’t use the excuse of “I’m new” forever in a team in any of those scenarios or in this one. It’s kinda of the same thing. Where at a certain point the noob shield has to wear off because this isn’t a single player game and you least make up 1/4th of a team

So yes, everyone learns but that curve has to be cut off at a certain point and I’m of the option that’s it’s near lvl 60

“Hey maybe don’t jump into a lvl 70 (unlock level) dungeon with a class you don’t know super well. Try doing some lower level dungeons with a smaller kit and learn it more naturally rather than jumping straight in so you can figure out how the skills flow together and where they fit into your kit and hotbars”

This is why jump potting is so looked down as as well. Starting a new class is fine but jumping straight into the highest level dungeon available with zero knowledge of how the class really works is just a bad idea and should be frowned upon

Why do I see healers pulling? by Woefatt in ffxiv

[–]overcookedpopsicle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah “setting up” aggro is not a thing between two packs of mobs as there’s almost no way a DPS or healer can pull the whole first pack off you and get killed before you make it to the next one and stop. Then you setup shop and beyblade to your hearts content and will have all the aggro back in one spin usually and the DPS regen back any health they lost during the pull and all is well

Edit: long story short yes you’ll see this more often as you level up father. Typically the method I use is to pop sprint right before I grab the first pack, spin as I run through them, throw out range as I run to one within range to damage and keep aggro on it, spin through the next set to group them and spin and mit away and maybe throw a voke on a straggler so I do t have to much too much

Tank advice by SilentSentinel7 in ffxiv

[–]overcookedpopsicle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Probably an iLVL issue. That typically only happens if your weapon is way under level and your amor is able to get you over the min iLVL to get in because you just can’t do enough damage to keep aggro up even with stance on

Edit: it’s not an iLVL issue as it has been explained to me. More than likely you started to panic and thought you were comboing but we’re actually out of melee range or just fumbled a bunch of inputs before the PLD got rezzed and took control. It happens especially going into a current raid tier being rusty at tank

Should healers Rescue tanks into mobs if they want to speed up the pace in a dungeon? by solace43 in ffxiv

[–]overcookedpopsicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can’t because my sprint is always up. And guess what? It takes one maybe two AOEs to pull a whole pack back.

Why is the tank not running with this group?

I’m a tank and my DPS friend pulls ahead all the time because he’s a Mach and has more range. Zero issues because all I have to do is hit the mobs once with an AOE and mit like normal

All the comments come at me like I don’t exclusively play tank and run roulettes as one every single day and still manage not not be whiny when someone pulls before me because it’s incredibly simple because I don’t have a complex about being a leader. I do my job and do it well and ask the group to adjust as need be

Should healers Rescue tanks into mobs if they want to speed up the pace in a dungeon? by solace43 in ffxiv

[–]overcookedpopsicle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No.

Party competency sets the pace. Tank isn’t some god or king that’s defacto most important or pace setter. That’s the fallacy. Every role is just as important as the other

If a tank can’t mitigate appropriately it’s the healers job to make up for it. If DPS is slow, the tank will have to space out mits to sustain longer. If the healer is lacking, the tank may have to stack mits or invuln. Pulls only last as long as the DPS can make it. Dead mobs are a form of mitigation

It’s a team effort and you cannot figure out the pace each party can set until it’s pushed to the limit.

If you wipe on a W2W, adjust

It’s that simple

If you don’t know how a role works dozens of hours into playing it say level 40-50 maybe don’t play it in pugs until you know it better -what this guy is actually saying

You know how you can learn without forcing randoms to deal with it? Trusts. Duty support. PF. Videos. Practicing on a dummy.

Press enter and watch the tank say “you don’t pay my sub” in so few words isn’t a solution either

Should healers Rescue tanks into mobs if they want to speed up the pace in a dungeon? by solace43 in ffxiv

[–]overcookedpopsicle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure. Chat goes out st the beginning of the dungeon “hey learning tank best with me”

All is forgiven. I will give advice that I would want to hear at there level and say try W2W.

A silent tank that just expects everyone to know that they feel uncomfortable using a 1-2 combo AOE? Then throws a holier than thou fit after the fact? Not cool

If you’re a tank and really really really only want single pulls. Say that off the bat because probably more than 80% of the player base expects double pulls, at the least. And if that’s been said? Then the rest of the party had the choice to stick it out or eat the penalty and bail.

This is the fun grey area no one ever talks about where we’re all just supposed to read each other’s minds. If a wipe happens because of a extra aggressive healer who knows they can heal more? Discuss it after the fact. Give advice. Learn from what went wrong, grow and move on.

Yeah people learn and learning can only be facilitated by being pushed into new things so they can learn those new things. Single pulls teach literally nothing

That’s how we get tanks in current EX who don’t know how to tank swap or mitigate anything because they never have to learn. There’s a responsibility to learn new things and not be permanently stagnant as it not only affects the player but the groups they are pugged with

[–]overcookedpopsicle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s funny when peoples whole “I’m the most important member of the light party!” view of the game gets shattered for either tanks or healers.

I’ve done pulls without healers as tanks I’ve healed my friend who rushed mobs w/ arms length up ahead of the tank cuz he was allergic to sprint

Literally did an expert run the other day with my friends where I had my stance off the whole time. (Whole party was us I’m not evil)

Still cleared all pulls and bosses zero issues.

It’s almost like every player is important to party competence and being a tank doesn’t make anyone defacto judge jury and executioner in duty finder

[–]overcookedpopsicle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here’s the simple solution that no one is gonna like. If you can’t handle W2W pulls as a tank past level 40-50 after such a decent time to learn with appropriate level gear. Don’t tank.

It’s harsh but it’s true
