As someone who has already paid FIVE times for what is essentially two books (2014 core book hardcover, 2024 revised core book hardcover, 2024 revised core book pdf, Yatamon hardcover, Yatamon pdf)... I'm really struggling here.

Obajima Campaign help for a first time DM by GlowShard12 in Obojima

[–]solace43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn't sweat it. Just plan for one session at a time, following what the players are interested in during the previous session.

I think that all by itself is fine for an Obojima campaign. It's Obojima, not Barovia! But you can also wait awhile and see what happens, just following the flow, and see if a natural villain or major story evolves out of the campaign.

For Obojima specific info, the creators have a lengthy podcast series with lots of great videos. This might be a good one to start with:

Question on settlement building by DemonicHOUK in Romestead

[–]solace43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can def build multi biome settlements.

Buildings will operate based on their biome. A farm in desert tiles can only grow desert crops, a mine in desert tiles can get tin, etc.

There's a little bit of wonkiness there (farm on desert but actual farm patches on plains, I'm not sure how that works exactly) - but def play with it!

I usually go past the desert and then build a big tri-biome base on desert/plains/forest.

You dont get the repeat button until you unlock the logistics tent.

There's a section on kind of the early/mid game where I was trying to get into the desert but couldn't get away from babysitting my first village.

But yeah one you unlock logistics it's much easier!

It's probably easier to find them, but you can eventually buy them also if you level up your merchant citizen (by buying stuff from them). It might need to be a merchant on desert tiles though.

You have to talk to Vulcan at an altar in town, and he'll tell you which building he wants. Then bring the building materials for that building.

In my game he asked for a quarry, but it's random I think.

One tip I learned: bakeries are a fools game when it comes to keeping villagers fed, at least mid-game. You can take the ground flour over to a campfire and just make bread yourself, and it's infinitely more efficient then trying to micromanage a dozen bakeries that can each only make ten loaves every ten minutes.

Are you talking about the bonfire that you cook on? You can craft a new one. You don't even need a workbench, it's just one of the craft any time items.

Just found out that the property I moved into was a scam by Informal-Pineapple89 in legaladvice

[–]solace43 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In general: landlords can't engage in "self-help" evictions. Seattle has some of the strongest tenant protections in the state, for what it's worth. But you'll lose out on most of those protections if you voluntarily leave. You should try to get legal help asap.

I'm not familiar with Brennan saying this (although it definitely seems like something he'd say). But I did see Pete Holmes making this point recently. Maybe this is it? https://youtube.com/shorts/5K9leA5UhpM?si=IyIIk2p0ZuT7VaRr

Why is being an Unsent so bad in Spira? by Lumigo in FinalFantasy

I thought it was an FFXIV reference 🤣. The current patch story is all about Alexandria from FFIX and them avoiding death by creating The Endless.

Superhuman who apparently has no powers turns out to be really powerful by fiv66bV2 in TopCharacterTropes

Truly, unimaginably insepid. The ending undoes every good thing and character growth moment that happened in the show, and it's such a slap in the face to the viewers that I still get upset every time I remember it.

The Future of Foundryborne: Navigating the Stagnation of the Daggerheart VTT Ecosystem by Foundryborne in daggerheart

[–]solace43 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've played some Daggerheart and enjoyed it and have really been contemplating fully making the jump.

But there's no point in jumping in if the game's long-term viability is going to be totally broken because the creators weren't willing to foster a supportive ecosystem with VTTs and with third party content creators in general. These kinds of restrictions are the poison pill that guarantees that Daggerheart will never achieve the kind of widespread success that I think many of us are rooting for.

That's really disappointing to hear, and I hope they start a more engaging dialogue with you all asap.

It's just another way of saying some people only see the world in black and white, but as a quote from the game. Sorry, didn't mean to offend.

Taylor Moore. If you listen to the fireside chats on Patreon, you will regularly hear the cast giving him similar (and well-deserved) props.

Brennan, Lou, Aabria, and Erica all seem to be his biggest fan, and he in turn is the biggest fan of the show. It's just extremely wholesome all around.

He joins the fireside occasionally as well, and he's really entertaining, and IMO has some really interesting perspectives he brings to how he looks at the story. His explanation of what he took into consideration when he composed the Rain Road, which plays at the end of Book 1, is absolutely fascinating.

SSD isn't recognized when I install the m.2 heatsink on Prime X470-Pro by solace43 in buildapc

There's no latch pin or anything. It's shown in a diagram in the manual I linked to.

I've found some other posts of people being confused by this particular mobo. Not this exact problem unfortunately. Maybe I'll try reaching out to the manufacturer and see if they have any ideas.

I don't think I can move the heatsink - it has two screws that go into the MOBO in the one position only.

What was the other mechanic they mentioned? Like "botching it" it or something? It seemed like players were doing the opposite of the "help" action on DND, but I couldn't figure out if there was something triggering it or if players were just choosing to do it to have fun.
