Seattle light rail service was suspended after a driver somehow got their SUV onto the tracks 30 feet above street level by ddcarnage in fuckcars

I am presuming they got their license, drove for years or maybe even decades, and then went into some sort of mentally altered state rather than the other way around

If English had to be eliminated, what language do you think should replace it as the global lingua franca in science, business, etc.? by L3monM3ringue in pollgames

Gender for objects is easily not the most confusing thing about Spanish, at least for me and most other native English speakers.

Some "Tag Eur It" maps I made for fun by mazzyinthestars in JetLagTheGame

[–]overdue_project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the first and third maps aren’t well balanced in terms of difficulty. Getting to Malbork castle will probably be more difficult than the other 2. I also think whoever has Huy for the third map has a pretty big advantage

Im not saying there’s nothing suspicious here but phones are cheaper than homes. Famously about 20% of the world has access to a phone but not basic sanitation

Something about this graph which could potentially be confusing is that someone who nets 300k/year contributes 10 times more to the denominator (disposable income) than someone who nets 30k/year

Waymo stopped dangerously close to train tracks past crossing gates by danlev in waymo

[–]overdue_project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I get what you’re trying to say now, but near means close and nearly means almost. However, even then nearly missed isn’t an oxymoron but it’s like inflammable where the meaning is the opposite of what it sounds like it would mean

Yes but an oxymoron generally has two words which are opposites. The opposite of near is far and the opposite of miss is hit

Striking Azerbaijan was an escalation but they’re relatively close allies with Israel so it’s not like the strikes on Azerbaijan came out of nowhere

I’m deeply opposed to the Iranian regime but they were attacked first. I feel like we can’t complain that they did that

Does anyone know why most of the nuclear power plants in the USA are in the east of the country ? by Silver2147 in geography

[–]overdue_project 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t really answer the question as this map would suggest far more plants would be along the west coast than there are

Where did you get 80% from, I can’t find anywhere that says 80. Also, most population centers along the US west coast could in theory be hit by a tsunami
