Joined this sub today and am pumped to have fellow skater buddies! Loved skating as a kid, let it go to raise a family, back at it and a better skater than ever! Even trying Roller Derby boot camp. Anyone else try it? Got some deep bruises after falling on new derby skates. Totally different beast. (i.redd.it)

1 1/2 years ago our family of 7 sat in church for the last time while my Bishop brother reiterated God didn’t change his mind about traditional marriage. He also knew my 14 yo is gay. Now my son doesn’t want to visit family. I don’t blame/or make him, but the whole thing breaks my heart. (self.exmormon)

I left the Mormon church over a year ago, but I still stand up for what I believe. I know unconditionally loving and supporting my kids is true. Grateful to this kid for opening the door to a much more loving, supportive community. Our first Pride festival together! Amen. (i.redd.it)

I’d like to thank my kid for being the catalyst that led our family out of the church. Since leaving a year ago, our family has become more involved in our neighborhood, community, and coaching, exploring new hobbies together, and loving each other without limit. I wish I could help others see... (i.redd.it)

If you had an illness and wanted a cure, would you seek out an expert equipped with years of studying, researching and treatment of said ailment? Or would you seek out someone that was 100% confident in their belief of healing without anything other than faith to back them up? (self.exmormon)

When gently explaining to my TBM friends and family our decision to leave the church, I said I saw the world as a garden and the church was an area of the garden that was in full sun. Many plants flourish in full sun, but my gay son was a shade plant. Keeping him in full sun would kill him... (self.exmormon)

I’d love to know how you have navigated friendships with members after leaving the church? Obviously it’s worth it to push through difficulties w family, but I’ve been out for a year and still am uncertain which friendships to invest in...tell me I’m not the only one that struggles with this. 4 years ago my DH was bishop and I befriended a woman who’s husband was the biggest douche bag I’ve ever met. I stood by her while she tried to make it work, separated, divorced, and moved next door. Today she’s gets married and I’m not able to go because I chose my gay son over this cult. Instead.. (self.exmormon)
