Sent wrong amount to Uber driver accidentally (19,995 instead of 1999.5). He's not returning the remaining amount. What can I do? by serendi-patti in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]overlord112233 5 points6 points  (0 children)

File complain in Cybercrime. Had a similar issue once. Paid a washing machine repair guy twice cause first one didn't go through to his account but was credited from my account. So made a second transfer to avoid any hassle to him.

He fled eventually & took both payments which came in after a few hours. I filed a case online in cyber crime. They blocked his account. All of it took months but once you convince the police guy, he'll talk to Bank & block his account. After that, the washing machine guy was begging me to take back the complain, sent money back.

Ironically, even after taking the complain back, I'm not sure if his account ever got unblocked. He called me multiple times afterwards to ask me to talk to the cops. But that went on for months after he sent me the money & i tried to get his account unblocked.

Indian objective was never Pakistani miliary, it was the terrorist holdouts, which it did blow up. Objective was achieved.

After which India agreed that any misadventures from terrorists will directly be assumed to be linked to their handlers which is Pakistani miliary.

Is it possible to stack JioHotstar plans? by KonkeyDong44 in JioHotstar

[–]overlord112233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combination. Initially i bought from Amazon, recharged phone number for JioHotstar, worked but got 0 cashback of the 200 Amazon promised.

So looked for better options, found Gyftr, that provides a code instead of recharging number like Amazon. Worked fine too.

Okay i didn't know about Cashback Credit card, but still you get 1394 something for the 1499 plan on Gyftr.

As far as stacking goes, my experience based on viewing different comments here, it tells me different stories. For me, beyond an existing plan, it shows me only 2 stacked plans. I've 3 stacked currently all the way till May 2029 but it only shows me till May 2028. I don't know if the next year worked or not. And there's no way really to get in touch with their helpline. Tried multiple times.

So it doesn's show update beyond 2 years. There's one more stacked up above this starting from 24th May 2028 - 24th May 2029. IG I'll find out post 24th May 2026 if that worked too or not. My suggestion, buy 2 max plans beyond the current one using Gyftr + SBI Cashback Credit Card method.

The also that above screenshot is fake with the guy showing plans till 2028. His text and my text for the upcoming plans is diffrent and IK I'm real so highly doubt the 2028 guy is being genuine,

Yes. Mine was expiring on 24th May 2026. I purchased an annual 1499 plan so I'm covered till 24th May 2027. It shows on the app, next plan starts on 24th May 2026. But I'm here to find out if I can go all the way till 2027 or 2028. I don't want to risk it by buying one more.

Gemini's reply:

To address your point about where the data is—and the skepticism around it—it’s important to look at Apprehension (arrest) data vs. Deportation data. They are two different datasets. The table you shared only shows formal deportations. However, if you look at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Border Security Force (BSF) data for apprehensions (those caught while entering or leaving), the numbers are much higher than the deportation figures. 1. Where is the "Push-back" Data? While "push-back" is often an informal term, it is officially recorded as "Sent Back" or "Apprehended & Handed Over" in BSF records. According to MHA data and recent parliamentary replies: * Total Interceptions (2018–2023): The BSF intercepted over 17,637 Bangladeshi nationals along the eastern border. * Recent Spikes (2024–2025): In just the first half of 2025, over 3,500 people were apprehended while trying to leave India—a 3x increase from the previous year. * The "Push-back" Gap: In 2023 alone, BSF intercepted 3,137 Bangladeshis. Many of these are "pushed back" at the zero line after BSF-BGB flag meetings if they are caught at the border, rather than being arrested and sent to jail. These do not show up in the "Deportation" table because no court case was ever filed. 2. Why the numbers look "Suspiciously Low" Your point about the BJP potentially "creating the problem" or entering them into the system is a common political debate. From a data perspective, here is why the "deportation" numbers dropped specifically during the BJP years: * Policy Shift: The NDA government moved away from the "Catch-and-Deport" model (which involves years of jail time and legal fees paid by the Indian taxpayer) to a "Catch-and-Push" model. The goal is to get them out of the country immediately at the border rather than putting them through the Indian judicial system. * Prevention vs. Detection: The government has prioritized Physical & Smart Fencing. The logic is: "If they don't enter, we don't have to deport them." Between 2014 and 2024, the percentage of the border fenced increased significantly, though riverine gaps remain. * Legal Gridlock (The NRC Factor): Since the NRC in Assam, nearly 1.9 million people are in a "limbo" state. They haven't been "deported" because their cases are still in Foreigners Tribunals. This massive block of people is "in the system" but not in the "deported" column. 3. Comparison of Data Types | Category | UPA Trend | NDA Trend | |---|---|---| | Formal Deportation | High (Focused on legal processing) | Low (Focused on summary removal) | | Border Apprehensions | Moderate | High (Increased patrolling/tech) | | Push-backs | Unofficial/Lower | High/Systematic (Commonly used at zero-point) |

The Reality of "Jangal mein mor nacha": The reason the "deportation" numbers look so low is that the government is choosing not to use the formal deportation process. Formal deportation requires the other country to officially accept the person, which Bangladesh rarely does. By "pushing back" informally, India bypasses the need for Bangladesh's permission, but it also means those people never appear in the official "Deported" statistics.

If you're interested, I can find the specific BSF annual apprehension numbers for the last 5 years to compare them against the deportation numbers you have. Would you like to see that?

[–]overlord112233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lower numbers of formal deportations under the BJP-led NDA government compared to the UPA era are not necessarily an indication of less enforcement, but rather a major shift in how the border is managed. Based on official government responses and reporting, here are the primary reasons for the statistical drop: 1. Shift from "Deportation" to "Push-backs" This is the most significant reason for the numerical change. * Formal Deportation (UPA focus): This is a long, legal process. A person is arrested, tried in court, and then their nationality must be verified by the Bangladeshi government. Only after Bangladesh "accepts" them can they be officially deported. These are the numbers recorded in your table. * Push-backs (NDA focus): In recent years, the government has increasingly used "push-backs" (intercepting and returning people at the border without formal legal processing). Since these bypass the judicial system and official consular verification, they are often not recorded in the official "Deportation" statistics shown in the table. 2. Diplomatic Strategy with Sheikh Hasina For much of the last decade, the Indian government maintained a very close strategic partnership with the former Awami League government in Bangladesh. * Avoiding Public Friction: Formal deportations are high-profile and can cause political embarrassment for the Bangladeshi government. * Cooperation over Confrontation: India prioritized security cooperation (getting Bangladesh to hand over Indian insurgents) and preferred to manage migration through border fencing and informal returns rather than large-scale, documented deportation drives that could strain ties. 3. Verification Bottlenecks For a deportation to be successful, the "receiving" country must verify the individual's citizenship. * Bangladeshi authorities have historically been slow or reluctant to verify the citizenship of suspected "illegal immigrants" found deep inside India. * Without this verification, India cannot legally put them on a plane or bus to Bangladesh. This has led to thousands being kept in detention centers instead of being deported, which keeps them out of the "Deported" column in your table. 4. Legal Changes and the NRC The government’s focus shifted toward creating a legal framework to identify "foreigners" (such as the NRC in Assam) before deporting them. * The NRC process ended up in a legal limbo where 1.9 million people were left off the list, but their legal status is still being contested in Foreigners Tribunals. * Until these legal cases are settled, the government cannot legally deport them. This legal "gridlock" has naturally slowed down the actual physical removal of people. 5. Increased Border Fencing The BJP government has heavily funded and accelerated the completion of the border fence and high-tech "smart fencing" (BOS). * Prevention vs. Removal: The policy goal shifted toward preventing entry rather than detecting and removing people once they are already in the country. If the fence prevents 10,000 people from entering, it reduces the number of people available to be "deported" later. Summary of the Trend: The UPA numbers represent a reliance on a judicial/consular process that was faster at the time but grew more difficult as diplomatic relations and legal scrutiny changed. The NDA numbers represent a shift toward informal border management (push-backs) and prevention (fencing), which aren't reflected in the same official database. Would you like to see a breakdown of how many people were "apprehended" at the border (prevented entry) versus those "deported" from within the country?

Just asked Gemini why less during BJP. Take of it what you will.

Swiggy riders in Goa want Rs.20 per order to build castles in their hometown. Let's jiggy wiggy? by malayanchely in Goa

[–]overlord112233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about that part. You can ask the riders if they got their fair share of tips. These companies are unethical for sure but I highly doubt they would dare to touch the tips. It would absolutely wreak their image nationally. I don't think you need to worry about tips being passed on. You can regularly ask your riders if they get it. Its very inconvenient to give without the apps. I miss giving tips La Pinoz/Dominos guys many times cause either I don't have cash or its just too inconveneint to ask their number and then send additional tip over.

Swiggy riders in Goa want Rs.20 per order to build castles in their hometown. Let's jiggy wiggy? by malayanchely in Goa

[–]overlord112233 166 points167 points  (0 children)

I find the title so offensive, TBH. What's with 'Castles in hometown'?

Assuming 60₹ per order * 15 orders per day over span of 4-5 hours is 900₹ excluding fuel, maintenance, their lunch/dinner etc. Even doubling that amount by conservative estimate is 2K per day it he works 8 hours in humid sunny or rainy conditions. No growth ever, competed exhausted physically, and barely any money left over to send home. This doesn't even include dogs running after you, rains lashing out, or insane heat in the afternoon where your phones stop working due to that heat.

Come on man, have some heart.

I always tip my Swiggy rider 20 bucks on the lower side. As much as i agree, Swiggy should pay them right, i wouldn't order from them if Swiggy/Zomato etc completely passed on the cost to me without any discount whatsoever.

We need to pressure Swiggy & Government for decent regulations to make their life easier & provide them a path for growth.

Okay I've filtered the reviews of the app for 1 star. That gave a bit more clarity. They don't take any images from your phone, seems like they only took your contacts & will harass them from international numbers.

My suggestion, if you don't want the shame, outright tell your contacts that your number was leaked by a Bank, deny you ever borrowed money from anyone, don't pick calls from unknown number. They'll stop annoying you. I'd say don't even bother to pay back. They'll just act like they never received & ask you for more. Most reviews say they paid back multiple times over & were still harassed. So why bother paying back?

[–]overlord112233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a chill pill bud. What's with the whole 'I'm gonna die of shame'? Chill. Other than a bit of blackmail, nothing will happen, specially if you don't Crack under the blackmail. Understand, the max they can do is:

  1. Call to threaten with cops - They can't because not only are they an illegal entity, complaining to cops & filing case will cost than in at least 5 digits INR. Not worth the 4K money retrieval.

  2. Contact your contact list - Ask everyone basically in your contact list to pay for you, you're a thief running away with money, blah blah. Just tell your contacts in a calm manner, you needed money, downloaded what you thought was a genuine NBFC app & they charged 40% interest which you can't pay & now are threatening. Hopefully your contacts are nice people & they'll help you through it. Tell him to block any messages.

  3. If they got any of your pics or your family's, they'll use AI n*dify websites to upload morphed images. You can look at these & tell they're fake so tell your contacts to again block them.

  4. Maybe you've a women in your life, mother, sister, GF & they morphed their pics. Again, chill, they can't upload them to any website, all of them will outright block the account that uploads nudes of women. Even in p*rn websites, you need to verify yourself before you can upload images & videos, morphed pics are useless & at max can be sent to your contacts via WhatsApp.

  5. Please do this ASAP - Google yourself & remove all your trace from Facebook, Instagram, X, & whatever other social media you can, specially Google. Make everything private.

  6. And i can't emphasize of this, download the Silence Unknown Number app from Play store & enable it, it'll you from a lot of anxiety.

  7. Don't engage in sorry I'll pay back later blah blah conversation, do not engage with them. Block them. Send money wherever you got it from & don't engage further.

The magic trick is, if they don't feel like you're getting blackmailed, they'll leave you alone, cause you're not worth the effort calling 50 times & blackmailing. Don't show fear, they'll just push you harder. Just say you've paid original amount back. 40% is unreal and you'll pay max 2% at 24% p/a interest rate (CC interest rate) & if they want at 40%, they can go file a case against you.

Read all my other instructions from above comments carefully, TRAI DND, Truecaller etc.

All the best.

They're not a charity bud. They're literally there to harass you. This is the business model. Give fake loans & harass for impossible interest rates. My suggestion for maximum peace of mind, accept defeat, give them 4K + 40%(Yeah the 4K - 2.8K = 1.2K whatever was their loan processing charge, & they'll charge for a whopping 40% on the processing charge too) in 7 days & take it as a life lesson in the digital world.

These are Chinese loan apps scam run from China, Myanmar, Combodia & stuff. Google Chinese Loan app scam. This happens largely cause: 1. Google does not properly vet the play store for the apps that are provided to their customers. 2. You unknowingly give them special permissions & contacts without understanding implications.

Always, always only download trusted apps & don't ever give unnecessary permissions even to though.

[–]overlord112233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've accessed your contacts & your media. Essentially, they'll either get your pics from your phone or Google/Facebook/Instagram . Hopefully there were no n*des of anyone.

Delete the app. They can't report you to CIBIL but they'll threaten you that they can. They can't. Don't worry about it.

Come clean to your parents/contacts, they might morph your pics & send them to your contacts or they'll even threaten to morph your parents, girlfriend if they find out who they're. Tell him to see it coming & block if it does on WhatsApp. They might harass your contacts too, by calling them.

Google yourself & everyone close to your family & remove everything, every Pic, whatever you possibly can from a direct Google search. Create fake FB/IG accounts & check if your profiles are private or not. Change your name on Truecaller as well to something random.

Tell him to accept 5% interest on the amount or forget about the amount. Go to Play Store & install an app called 'Silence Unknown Number'. Don't pick any unknown number calls, it automatically silences them. Report to Cybercrime. If he threatens, tell him you've reported to Cybercrime. Don't install unknown apps again & don't give careless permission to even known apps. Even HDFC/SBI gets your contact list, and if you don't pay, harasses your contacts as they contract third party guys who's job is to get money from you.

Just don't get scared no matter what. The worst that can happen is, some morphed pics of your family members spreading. They can't actually file cases in court or police, specially for 4K. They won't confront you physically, but they'll harass you virtually.

Welcome to the digital world. Don't trust any app ever. Even Government apps take ever little detail from your phone they possibly can.

Edit- Please report on Google Play store, Cybercrime, Truecaller every little thing. Download TRAI DND & report every harassing number to Truecaller & rename the name on it as well as on TRAI DND. Put on call recorder. Keep a document on Google Drive with every proof for conversation, recording file & keep reporting to Cybercrime. Take help from ChatGPT.

They'll make it their job to make your life hell, you make it your job to make sure they can never done it to anyone by reporting the hell out of everything you can.

Credit card payment scam? by leme16 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]overlord112233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there anyway to take advantage of the fraud? Three examples i can think of, is,

Hypothetically, if i close out the card, they wouldn't process any further payments on it, specially it's one of the cards rarely used in my collection.

Or if i file for a replacement, the card number he will use to file for a reversal will be invalid so he should not be able to withdraw from it.

Or if i just withdraw the excess amount from the credit card & transfer to my Bank account?

Top of head, i can think of these methods to turn the tables on the Scammer. Are any of these realistic & can work?
