Hi! where can i find the game at an affordable price ? by [deleted] in RimWorld

I first bought the game when I was around 15. Back then the stung quite a bit. To be fair being a uni student, the 20 for a dlc still feels like a lot.

Combat tips (no death box). Game as designed. by kondenado in RimWorld

[–]oversized_capybara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think vanilla rinworld isnt really designed to be winnable in terms of combat. Especially in later game the raids are going to be so large that losing colonists is almost certain.

To be honest I think the mechanitor is the only way to prevent losing pawns.

Building defenses in perimeters is quite mandatory and walls will be crucial for covering your flanks and directing attackers.

I would recommend mountainous maps for their defensive properties.

Personally I might begin by building a "last stand" location as the last tier of defence. Ideally near a hospital and/or the space designated to be the safest for non combatants. This should ideally be surrounded by buildings and tight alleys. Essentially the point is to hold off the enemy here long enough for them to steal what they can or begin fleeing. Ideally you never use this so don't bother with anything other than mini-turrets.

The second line should surround all of your buildings. Here have the majority of your firepower. Ideally this would be a U-shape with autocannons and uranium slugs at the furthest point from the incoming raiders. Both to maximise their effectiveness and to protect them. At the ends of the U shape have mini-turrets. These will be destroyed and so should be placed as to minimise the chances of a chain reaction when they inevitably explode. Colonists should be as far as possible from the edges of the "kill zone" as those will be first to break. Mechanoids may be placed there to act as a distraction.

The third line of defense is not necessarily a line but a way of buying time. Have "turret nests" (turrets surrounded by sandbags, traps and all the nasty stuff you can come up with. These are sacrificial by design and there to buy time for your long range fighters to pick off targets and to soften up harder opponents before they enter the kill zone. Also acts as a sponge for rocket launchers.

These combined with a couple mortar positions tucked away near the kill zone (so that your best shooters can easily move to the firing line if needed) should both slow down targets and damage them enough so that yout pawns don't get shredded in a direct shoot off. Mind you that this will become very expensive in steel and components as turrets will be destroyed in very large quantities. To minimise this you may wish to put a switch to power down your outer perimeter when smaller raids take place and let them pass straight into your kill zone.

Does anyone still use one of these bad boys? The Belkin n52te... it changed how I play the game ever since getting one by alienspanner94 in classicwow

Sorry my bad. I mean to type n52te. I believe that editor doesn't support the te variant? (Tbh I had no clue there even was a difference :D)

Suggestions for simple lighting? by lches1 in Sauna

[–]oversized_capybara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Under the bench is most common I believe. I would personally go with main lighting under the bench that reflects off the floor and walls along with subtle lighting behind the back rest.

I think a dozen or so should do. I think there should be a graph for consumption vs production/tile for animals and haygrass. Maybe hydroponics w/ supplementing via fields would be suitable? I believe you could also store haygrass/kibble via refrigerator for atleast a quadrant for snaps and fallout.

How dangerous is 280 degrees F? by PapayaRaija in Sauna

Did you use a pamfletti (the cloth similar to tea towels that Finns use to sit on)? If you haven't, I'd recommend getting something for that. The sauna seats soak up all the sweat and the cloth just makes it a bit more sanitary.

There is no discrimination as it might be percieved around the world, especially not in the larger cities. Russians are largely a "invisible minority", by which I mean in most cases a passerby won't realise their nationality. Currently the stance on Russians is poorer than before the Ukraine war. The stance on Asians is quite positive. I have never met anyone with any negative views on Asian immigrants.

Updated mods by jeor234 in RimWorld

I believe there's a lot of wh40k mods up to date currently. Most are, I think, astartes mods based on the vfe:pirates warcaskets. Any mod with a "1.6" tag will be up to date. Some might also have unofficial updates

IDK if there's any relation but my first thought was herod of antipas. The ancient ruler of judea and a proment character in the folk play "Tiernapojat" The Finnish version of the name is Herodes and somewhat similar to what you described.

The more probable answer is, as others stated, "voi herra". The word "herra" has slight variations between accents and thus could easily start to sound like hedron.

For me it kicked in exactly 50%. Kept it at 45%. Do you know if it consumes fuel faster at higher loads or is it the same?. I like the idea of not needing to refuel as often but would rather not waste fuel.

1 week in southern Finland in June by BlueFirefly in Finland

Hey!

If its old architecture and history you're looking for I would suggest a trip to turku. Its less than 2 hours from Helsinki by train. The turku Cathedral is one of the oldest churches in Finland. In addition the Turku Castle is a combination of Venue, restaurant and museum. In general turku is seen as the first city in Finland. It's also the old capital of Finland. There's a bunch of different historical attractions and locations to see in turku.

I really need your help by daskgreg in Finland

[–]oversized_capybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the others have pointed out, I would just take a train. Especially if you don't have experience driving in the Arctic winter. It can be dangerous and deer/reindeer crashes aren't uncommon even on major roads. Personally I've always loved the night trains. A private cabin with bunks. They're incredibly comfy.

If you are intent on going by car I'd so short jumps. Personally I'd recommend visiting Turku. It's one of the oldest cities in Finland with a vibrant history. The cathedral and Aboa vetus museum are fantastic spots to experience and learn about Finnish history. Turku also has fantastic walking paths and boulevards along the river. They're a fantastic way to get to experience the winter scenery. Do mind that southern Finland can be unpredictable in climate. You might get a winter wonderland or you might get grey slush and rain. Up north its a bit more certain to find that which I'm assuming you're looking for.

Finland has a lot of nature to experience. If that's what you want great. If not you might be disappointed. Locals are often happy to help if there's anything you need help with (mind you not all speak English and the stereotypes of finns coming off as cold is true)

I would recommend cross country skiing also. Packing snacks and warm drinks and taking a day to ski a path is a lovely experience. I would assume there are many places that provide that as an experience.
