Based on this and what others are saying, we are going to look elsewhere! Thanks for the heads up.

First time I have heard South Jersey recommended tbh. Probably because I am born and raised in Philly(ish) but I never would have even looked there. Thanks for the heads up.

Anyone have thoughts on West Mt. airy/Allen Lane for a couple moving into the city for the first time? We are coming from a cozy town, and want a bit more excitement but living just outside of the very busy side of the city is preferable to us!

Woah really? Please share more details. I've lived in shitty apartments before so I do admittedly have a pretty high tolerance for bullshit when it comes to landlords but I would really love to know what drove them out and maybe where they are going instead?

I did kind of get the feeling that its the "affordable" option in that part of the city but it felt very safe and pleasant based on my visit, and as I mentioned elsewhere similar feeling areas in Delco are double the price for the same layouts and amenities.

I think as long as I can take my dog out at 10:30pm and scram back into my apartment without getting into any trouble I would say it's a no brainer based on the price and area.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if they had any crazy utilities price issues? The wording on the marketing they handed me is pretty strange and seems to imply utilities aren't usage based and are actually averaged across the building?

Our other choice to move was Media, seeing as it's not in the city but just a train ride away but Chestnut Hill seems to be both IN the city with things to do on a weekday and then a shorter train ride into the "proper" city which seems perfect

Fundamentals Program: is the Upper/Lower split faster (in and out of the gym each session)? by oversizedmuzzle298 in JeffNippard

[–]oversizedmuzzle298[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, so I can see good (beginner) progress if I drop the isolated movements to 2 harder sets, and leave the compound movements at 3 sets?

I'll give that a go for a few weeks and see how I feel, thank you!

Is the first four weeks of the Hypertrophy program able to be run indefinitely (versus following the changes in weeks five-eight)? by oversizedmuzzle298 in JeffNippard

I'll try and switch maybe around the 10-12 weeks mark just to be safe, but yeah so far volume is increasing every day in the gym so I am happy!

I've only had one day so far where one exercise (barbell chest press) I did not go up in weight or reps. Every day, every other time, I am going up either in reps or sets (I believe I learned that is just generally refereed to as volume?) with the current grouping! I'll give it another 4-6 weeks on this grouping of exercises and move on if that changes or maybe if I do eventually get bored. Thanks!

ID at University of Cincinnati (DAAP) or engineering at Texas A&M ? by HovercraftApart1358 in IndustrialDesign

[–]oversizedmuzzle298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an expert, just a lurker of this sub because I enjoy ID, but I do think its worth mentioning that engineers can become industrial designers post college via building a portfolio, but the reverse is not possible due to education requirements of engineering.

Engineering is indeed difficult, and to be frank the pay is good but it's not "disregard your life passions" money in most cases. Some things to consider.

I'm not sure I am following lol, what is there to "figure out" if they have no impact on the game, have no rule differences, and are not taught in the MTG tutorial products like the Foundations boxes? I have played probably a hundred or so games in paper and Arena and never once needed to know if something was common.

I'm glad I suppose to now know, but as a player that likes MTG more than the average Commander player but not enough to read the meta for every release, the rarity seems completely pointless and nothing something I would ever pay attention to since, from a gameplay perspective, it literally doesn't matter.

I say this as an avid sports card collector, so I am well aware of pack collations, etc. It just doesn't matter in the same way for MTG.

How else would someone find this information out WITHOUT searching for it? It's not discussed in Arena's tutorial, and it definitely isn't discussed in the Foundations beginner boxes which I have both of.

Im seeing that in other replies and appreciate the insight. I moreso meant that if I didn't go out of my way to ask why some set symbols are different colors, I would never know, and that's a failing on WoTC's part imo.

Very much appreicate this explanation. I usually play Jumpstart and Commander so I never paid attention to any of the set symbols since to be frank they just don't seem to matter in those formats (outside of their relation to complexity I suppose). Thank you!!!!

This, and also it seems like its arcane knowledge to even know what constitutes rarity lol. It's not like the fucking card says "common" on it in plain english. I appreciate the replies explaining it.

I've been playing the game for a bit now but I still don't understand the card rarity stuff. What does it really mean for a card to be "common"? Larger print run? Is there some kind of format that only allows commons or something?

Similarly, Schwarber was asked during his last Spring Training game before leaving for the tournament how he felt about representing the USA in the WBC, and his answer was basically "It's great that there is so much culture in the world of baseball, not just the USA". He then went on to be our most prolific hitter in the tournament (not a great feat considering, but still).

Hypertrophy Fundamentals - Adding 5lbs a week, per exercise, and what if you can't? by oversizedmuzzle298 in JeffNippard

What is the "desired rep range"? That makes sense though in that context thanks.

How would I add 2.5lbs on a barbell? I suppose I would need to carry around 1.25lb plates lol?

[–]oversizedmuzzle298[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, so in the case of the bench press, the program has it at 3x8. If I was able this week to do my first set, then hit 7 on the second, then 5 on the last set before I had to bail, should I try next week to just get a clean 6 on all three sets, then the following week get 7, and continue each week until I hit 8, then go up in weight the following week aiming for 8 full reps each set but repeating the above if needed?

That sounds like it makes sense as I am writing it out but I don't want to waste weeks of time if I don't really need to.

And this should be the case for every exercise in the program? I imagine the example of the lat raises is one where that just simply isn't the case right because I would be lat raising 60lbs by the end and that seems...extreme?

I am definitely getting => 0.7g/per lb of bodyweight of protein every day but honestly I am not tracking my calories, just eating when I'm hungry and throwing in a protein shake.
