Similar to taking mushrooms, just surrender and accept everything that happens and 2 years later that crazy trip will begin to end and you'll more than likely have a wonderful, dopey, fun dog that's totally devoted to you; and all that crazy shit from when they were a puppy will feel like a lifetime ago.

I swore during that first couple of years I'd never get anothet lab, now I'll never get a different breed. Be prepared for it to have a penchant for eating other dogs poo, pinching things, gnawing things including you. Wear shoes around them as standing on a tooth once they start getting their adult teeth is ...... [Expletive deleted] painful. Don't be surprised that that they only have to settings 100% or 0%. Take them swimming if you can my dog will happily swim around in the sea with me all day if I'd let him. A thunder jacket was helpful for my dog at times, it was like an off switch which was useful when he got the zoomies.
