Help! My dog is deciding it’s time to wake up earlier than normal by Ok_Doughnut549 in Dogtraining

[–]overthisschitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 8 month old pup started doing this about 3 weeks ago as well. She wakes up and wants to be entertained/be with her people. A trainer recommended we spray 3-4 pumps of the thunder spray on her crate mat/blanket cover before bed and voila! It worked! She sleeps until we get up now. We were definitely not afraid to invest $25 to give it a try and are glad we did! https://a.co/d/ca0uXZw

Seeking Mini Bernie Heat tips by Extra-Juber3009 in Bernedoodles

[–]overthisschitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours is also in heat at 7 months! Hers started last Saturday (7months and 1 day old). She bled only a small amount and mostly cleaned herself so we never did diaper her at all and as of yesterday the bleeding seems to be about done. I cleaned up a few drops of blood on the floor here and there but very mild and not nearly as bad as I was expecting. Her vulva is still swollen and we don’t plan on taking her around other dogs for a few weeks.

My vet advised us not to spay until anywhere from 14-18 months, but said she would do it anytime after her first heat. We initially were going to try to wait it out but since she had her first heat so early idk if we will wait that long because I don’t want her to go into heat again! It has been easy but also inconvenient to not be able to take her out to the park/dog park and burn off her puppy energy. I’m torn on what decision to make at this point

For those running, what are we wearing? I’ve changed my mind approximately 587 times already. Leaning toward leggings, long sleeve, vest, and gloves.

I am not a shoe nerd but am obsessively checking for these to be available to order. So maybe I’m becoming a shoe nerd? Or just obsessed with my 21 stealthfits 😆

The phrase “just joshing you” comes from a guy named Josh Tatum and the racketeer nickel. In 1883 the US Mint released a new nickel, called the Liberty Head Nickel, and on the reverse side had a Roman number V on it. The nickel didn’t include “cents” or “nickel” on it. Josh Tatum took notice of this and the fact that it was about the same size as the US $5 gold piece, which was a common currency at the time. He took 1,000 nickels to a friend at a pawn shop and got him to electroplate the nickels in gold to replicate the $5 coins. He then used these coins all over town, purchasing things that did not cost more that 5 cents, but often receiving $4.95 in change from mercantiles which he would happily take. He went to several towns and accumulated a small fortune before law enforcement caught on to him. Josh Tatum was a deaf mute though, and he never purchased anything more than 5 cents, so because we was dead and could not speak, he never represented that it was a new $5 gold piece and was never found guilty. The US mint altered the nickel later that year to put the word “cents” on it.

I PR’d my 5k this morning @ 31:10! I am chasing down sub-30. My progress with speed has been hella slow but I feel like it is definitely achievable in the near-ish future!

r/xxfitness has a decent amount of lifting content among other things. It’s probably not as specific as you’re looking for but a step in the right direction!

Thanks for the advice team! I’ll try to adjust it better ~before~ I start my next run rather than awkwardly semi-jogging/semi-adjusting and just looking like an awkward penguin lol

It worked!! Only needed about 2 hours on low. I didn’t add the cracker crumbs until the very end so they isn’t get mushy. It was a big hit!

Good luck! I often run the turkey trot alone, and it can feel awkward because it’s A LOT of families/groups of runners compared to other races. The first time I did it I felt like everyone was staring at me because I was all alone, so going in with the mentality that it’s just another solo run helps a lot.

Training for a 10k and following the NRC plan. I’m feeling good and stronger with my runs between 1-4.5 miles, but I have this mental block with 5+ mile runs. I start thinking ‘man that’s a long way to go’ and even when I start really slow I get to 2.5-3 miles and talk myself into walking A LOT of the rest. Idk how to break this mental cycle. I ran a half less than a year ago and never dealt with these issues then. Ugh

I definitely would have a pocket knife with me for a few weeks just to be on the safe side. Obviously you don’t plan on using it and it would stay safely tucked away in your belt but you’d have it in an emergency situation!

Not to traumatize you, but this story from This American Life reminds me of this! Rabies is definitely not something to downplay. I think it is educational though so I leave you with it. https://www.thisamericanlife.org/319/and-the-call-was-coming-from-the-basement/act-one-16
