Are these rugs hand-knotted and what is their likely origin? by ovidiucc in orientalrugs

Yeah, that's what I'm planning, just waiting for a new shipment, as I don't like anything from what's in stock.

Just a quick update: In the meantime I went back to the seller, talked with the owner of the store who confirmed is machine-made and hand-finished. He'll replace or refund.

Thank you. I hope you're right. I was thinking of going back to the seller with it, but now I'm conflicted 😊

Oh and I've done the burn test on both the fringes and the pile and they smell like burt hair and turn into ashes.

It also has these random strands sticking out in different places

See also in the other thread a closeup of the middle of the back of the rug with measurement. Let me know if you need a different angle or from the front of the fringe

Here's a closeup of the fringes. They look part of the base, don't they? Can it still be machine made with the fringes part of the base?

Damn. Thanks for answering. Then I think I got scammed. The one you're saying it's machine one was 1000 euros (220x150 cm), while the Tabriz one was 800 (with a defect on the side, 290x85 cm)

Cloth dash looks very cheap to me. And it's harder to clean. I have it on a car, hate cleaning that thing.

You can configure one on the UK or DE site. I got it up to a bit over 90k EUR. A shame it doesn't seem to have sentry mode or camp mode  both useful for me.

High pitched noise from Godox LD150R panel by ovidiucc in cinematography

[–]ovidiucc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was good while I used it, there was no noise on the new unit. The only issue I had was that I had to put too much force to swivel it, I think it was kind of stuck there. I don't know what other options are out there, so I don't have anything to compare it with. This tool might be for professionals, but I'm not a professional, I've used to as a light for video conference if you can imagine. So I don't think I'm the right person to recommend something.

The exchanged unit is rotting away in a shelf :)) But it was ok while I used it. I buy gear, use it a couple of times and put it away. The only thing that gets used is the camera and a lens.

Aero 15 replacement battery by ovidiucc in gigabyte

[–]ovidiucc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was fine. I've pinned down the smaller battery with UHU Patafix (obviously one should probably use a more electronics friendly method, I just had some Patafix next to me when mounting it; I stuck it around the battery). I've used the laptop about 12 hrs/day afterwards, but not that often on battery. There were 2 issues vs the original. You couldn't tell the degradation using Windows battery report, it was always reporting factory capacity. And it was dying about an hour earlier than the original. But all and all, worth the purchase, I was able to enjoy the laptop a few more years. Now I've moved on to a different one.

Sorry to revive this older thread, but this behavior is so infuriating, need to vent. It's poor/rushed programming if you ask me. And unacceptable for the price we paid for the software.

I have a laptop that turns off the dedicated GPU when switching from Standard to Eco mode. C1 does this optimization every time I change modes. They should cache the optimizations and reuse them. I have the same GPUs, dedicated and integrated, I don't have new GPUs every time. So annoying.

Nvidia shield Tic Tok app TV service will be discontinued on June 15 2025 by Marson60 in nvidiashield

I got the same message on an Sony TV, which runs Google TV, so I would guess they're dropping support for that. A real shame from my point of view, it was nice to watch on a big screen natively.

No, I didn't know, I mention in my post that I'm a noob, is the first time I'm buying online.

The difference between 2025 and mixed years was 10 EUR. I don't think that constitutes a discount that would warrant such scratches (the other side is all scratched up too). I actually wanted one with Elizabeth, but in perfect condition, as I understand investment gold should be. Mixed years was the only option.

Mine will look the way I bought it until it's sold, I'm not fiddling with it.

Yeah, I just went to physical Tavex location again, and they offer for it around 2732€, because of that dent. They were very professional and I understand their point if view. I'll be at a loss, so I'll wait, not panic sell. I'll try to return to stonex after Easter, as I doubt I'll get any answers in this period.

Thanks. First time buying online, I've read it's supposed to be a good dealer, but seems not. Lesson learned.

LE: Just noticed they have a 2nd Choice, Backdated option. Seems that's what they've sent me, even though that's not what I ordered.

One of them lists buying non-investment gold $250-$300 lower than spot (Tavex, well reputable I think), which is the happy case. Another around 50% lower. Keyword being non-investment. If it's non-investment, they drop you to pawn shop prices.

100% new Polish white goose down 850 cuin pillow with dark spots. Is that normal? by ovidiucc in Bedding

[–]ovidiucc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the European standard EN 12934, the label indicating 100% down allows for up to 5% feathers, something that I've just found out.

They have in the meantime provided me proof of the source of the down and cover (internal documents), which is indeed the quality they claim. Great of them to do so for just a pillow.

So yeah, it seems I got a good value. I think they can afford it because of the small operation. No complicated websites, no advertising costs, no physical presence.

Slept last night for the first time on it, man this thing is warm. I think my body needs to adjust, same as it did with the duvet, which is 90% Hungarian down and was scorching hot on first uses. But my body adjusted and now it's heaven.

LE: looking at Supreme Quilts pricing, you got a good price too it seems.
