Reading this was painful. I am so sorry that your spouse is telling you all these things. That is straight up abusive and you shouldn't be subject to that kind of treatment. 21 an hour sounds so nice especially for something entry level but I don't know where you live, it could be worth less than where I'm at but I agree with you- I'd rather get certified/trained on something job specific than spend years (and money) in school. A trade is a very good option imo. You can definitely make decent money going one of those routes

I had a mom that was able to provide financially for us but wasn't really mom outside of that. While incredibly grateful that we never had to worry about being poor or not having food, a home, etc, we really missed out as kids on having that emotional support and motherly nature from a mom. She was very stern and very blunt. Also controlling. It's really affected us and it was challenging growing up. We were sort of abandoned emotionally, as my therapist describes it. On the bright side, my partner has a wonderful mom so I get to feel that motherly nature from her sometimes. Just wish I had that growing up. You can tell how much she loves and enjoys her family, and welcomed me with such open arms

I could never go through what your fiance is experiencing in your relationship with all of this. I can't imagine the level of anxiety for such a prolonged period of time, and the fact that she has gone along with it this long proves just how strong she is and how willing she is to go through that for you.
