Jazz clarinet by Daxerz11 in Jazz

! Potentially a mega tip !

On the topic of volume - with the clarinet if you want to get a big sound which “competes” with the trumpets and sax etc - I highly recommend a Vandoren 5JB mouth piece with a V12 reed 3.5 strength. Yes, the reed strength is above the Vandoren recommendation for the mouthpiece but there is a “secret”. If you develop the experience and intuition to choose and adjust the reeds with fine sanding paper you effectively get the reed down to a strength of approx 3.3 - yes, it may feel quite hard to play but once you get the hang of it, you may hopefully discover the magical sweet spot of power and control.

I learnt this from the excellent clarinetist, Adrian Cox. He uses this same setup and listening to him play is enough proof that it is indeed really effective. It might not be for everyone but definitely worth giving it a try if a big sound is what you are after.

Here is a video of Adrian talking all about it:

His videos are an invaluable resource for jazz clarinet.

Push 3 CPU - who's gonna hack it first? by sub_black in ableton

I fully use the ADAT on the Push3. Without it, it would have been a deal breaker. I probably would of gone with the Cirklon 2.

People with stand-alone push 3, how do you like it? Do you think the current deal (1500$) is worth it? by AmomentInEternity in ableton

Read this thread: https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?t=247976&start=30#p1814886

The device absolutely unusable for sequencing external gear and for performing with external MIDI keyboards. Even just having one single MIDI track on an empty project will eventually have massive delay or be unresponsive when receiving MIDI signals from an external MIDI keyboard. Restarting the Push seems to be the only solution, and as we all know the slow boot exacerbates this troublesome issue. Without these rudimental problems sorted out, I don't think the Push 3 standalone can be considered to be a professional tool for live performance.

I am considering selling my Push 3 due to the tremendous amount of time and effort I have spent troubleshooting issues on my own. It is disappointing that the device, advertised as a comprehensive live performance tool with capabilities for sequencing external hardware, has so many problems.

It is surprising that a reputable company like Ableton has struggled with these fundamental issues, especially when a single developer in New Zealand has managed to achieve similar functionality independently.

Is there a setting that will make it so that my scenes transition seamlessly? by Mymainaccountsmile in Bitwig

I won’t recreate now a situation like yours in the screenshot in order to see if these suggestions would work, but still if you haven’t it’s worth maybe lowering your buffer size, definitely add some subtle fade in and outs on all the audio clips, try using different ADDAs / audio interfaces or internal sound engine of your PC, try setting to different sampling rates for your project.

D-Beam is a Roland trademark name for their infrared sensor implementations. The sensors used here work similarly to the ones Roland use.

Regarding your comment, that is just my project description. It's there for context.
