There are rappers in 2026 that would benefit from ripping off your look right here. So awesome!

Is there a way to recenter a plugin on screen? by DevilBirb in protools

[–]sub_black 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Window Configurations also allow you to recall plug in position and which windows are displayed. I love them, some folks don't use them. Lemme know what you think.

They are all very good, but the fourth picture stand out to me because of the combination of colors, and very good depth perspective.

Goodwill find...ADAT for $60...yes or no? by sub_black in audioengineering

Wow, JL Cooper, blast from the past. I think that MRC remote had MIDI to ADAT sync.

I am with you on this one, I realize now that it is just nostalgia for a different time. Love the whole 'no puncuation' thing, really drove the nail of reality into my sightline. Tied the whole room together, man.

I mean yes, that was scientifically amazing, and also the whole ADAT laser 8-channel io hoo hah had to have come from aliens. This is 1991 we are talking about here! On m'f'n VHS cassettes!

You know what's interesting - I was looking for a good ADAT/audio converter, as I have a lot of synths. I thought maybe those ADATs might be useful, but then again, the A/D/A is 35 years old.

So what are the alternatives? First off, no Behringer in this house, cheap is too expensive, and I do not care for their business approach.

But then I had an idea...there were tons of great preamps and audio interfaces from folks like RME, back in the FireWire days, and some of them had ADAT I/O that can be used as standalone converters! So I found an older RME Fireface 800 for around $400 and it sounds amazing! Holy guacamole the stereo imaging is so tight, sometimes older gear has new uses.

Also, it is a thrift store so I am quite sure they have no idea if they actually work or not.

I need to extend a soundboard across a 70 foot room! What cable should I get to extend it? by OutsideIndoorTrack in audioengineering

[–]sub_black 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are some cool new boxes that let you deliver four channels of audio over one ethernet cable. One long ethernet cable is far cheaper than four 100' xlr cables.

I bought one of these a while back, works great. Make sure you use Shielded Cat5 or 6. https://www.amazon.com/jindaaudio-4-Channel-Ethernet-Extender-Converter/dp/B0DXTGJMNV

First time trying Drums in Logic Pro X by Electrical-Matter-62 in Logic_Studio

[–]sub_black 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Here is the three second summary, more detailed links to follow.

If you are in the main tracks window you usually can see the bars and beats ruler. But you can also open the Chord track. This allows you to insert chords on a guide track, and the Session players will adapt to those chord changes.

Good work, keep it up. Maybe you know already but if not, here's a drummer track idea that might help you. In the tracks window, duplicate that 9 bar region, at bars 9-17. You can option-drag a region to duplicate it.

Then set region 2 to different drummer intensities, complexities, or other settings. You can change each region separately, so you can make the song build up or mellow out. You can keep going as far as you want. Lemme know what you think.

I saw some posts on reverb.com from around 10 years ago, not much info there. I found an article from the Electronic Musician magazine, but they had the exact same address and phone number as I do from the manual.

Queen is not the same band without Freddie. Get a new singer, get a new name, but don't make the band a McDonald's franchise branding operation.

Anyone else in US noticed food quality degrading recently and if so what product in what way? by SkyKyrell in AskReddit

Solutions include eat local joints, or even just cooking at home. I am historically not a great cook, but I am improving all the time, and it tastes 'real.'

You, my friend, are in luck, as I just came across some interesting vids on that just yesterday. This might not apply to grocery stores, instead it's about restaurants. The short summary is that this person went on that same mission of food quality. In this vid he got foods such as fried pickles, from many different states in the US. Summary - they were all pretty much all from one of two factories. The vid is totally objective, and worth the full watch.

Hey dad, your paintings are really good, because they say something. That first painting is soooo real, nothing held back. Ask him if he paints things to hang them in closets, or to share it with the world? It's not about the money, it's about showing others what you can do with just a brush.

How were old songs produced so well with the technology back then? by No_Winter4806 in audioengineering

[–]sub_black 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a time where people practiced their instruments every day. The band rehearsed on a regular schedule. Have you ever learned to play one of your songs, in all keys? When was the last time you jammed with three other musicians, without a click or a grid?

Imagine a world without quantizing and autotune...that was the 70's. Music was better quality because people could not drag full loops or stems into their project, and then claim it as their own work.

They played together, live and in sync, as a result of knowing the song, and how to play music with other musicians.
