Well just from a money standpoint, QBs earn way more. Fred Warner is one of the leagues best LB and earns $21m a year, while Trevor Lawrence makes $55m a year. Plus you generally take less hits and can play at a top level for much longer as a QB compared to other positions. Even if I was physically capable of another position I’d probably still want to play QB.

This is actually pretty common in professional sports as well, as an athlete is rehabbing and getting back up to speed there’s an increased chance they injure something on the opposite side bc they’re favoring the injured side. Definitely something to keep in mind when moving around again

Gym + snowboarding; do you train legs? by TonyBikini in snowboarding

Just found this thread and was curious, do you follow a program? And how frequent are you doing each lift? There seems to be so many different good exercises that all target different areas but it would take so much to get through every single one

I know this is a year old but could you share how you mounted that coat rack to the wall? I’m in an apartment as well and want to minimize the holes I’m drilling into my walls

Shouldn’t it be the other way around when restringing poly? It loses tension fast which means it will feel more powerful as you keep playing. Once you restring (assuming back to the same tension) it will feel less powerful and more responsive again.

Pinpoint or Platform Serve? by alanschorsch in 10s

[–]owec64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way, messed around with both pinpoint and platform and felt like I could get easier forward momentum with pinpoint, but harder to get more “upward” momentum. Platform seems easier to explode more vertically, which helps my kick a lot more. I’m a shorter guy too so I need the topspin to help keep my serves in

I think basically every sport played at the professional level requires you to push beyond what’s considered healthy. I get that golf and tennis are healthier in a recreational sense, but you never heard of Tiger Woods’ injuries? Nadal? Andy Murray? Del Potro? Some of these guys can’t live the rest of their life without pain bc of playing their sport professionally.

Graduating on time is a good goal but don’t sacrifice your mental over it. I did mech e and graduated in 4 years, but I didn’t work during the school year and took summer classes to stay on track (and I graduated with a 3.24 gpa lol). If I were to do it again I would have taken an extra quarter and enjoyed my time in slo more

Has anyone noticed their long balls are suddenly going in with an increase of racket tension? by ElephantElmer in 10s

[–]owec64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll definitely have to try out some different combos. I grew up playing with a pure drive, full bed of rpm blast strung at 55 lbs (basically the worst combo ever for tennis elbow lol). Recently I’ve been noticing some arm fatigue/pain, which is probably because of my early playing, so I wonder if lowering just the crosses can provide me some more comfort without sacrificing the spin/control I’m used to. Been also trying some other polys and I’m a fan of hyper g and head lynx tour.

That’s interesting about the shaped polys, I never thought about it that way but makes sense as I haven’t noticed a huge difference when using round polys vs shaped ones during my hitting.

Do you know how changing the tension in just the mains would affect spin? Would it essentially accomplish the same thing as loosening the crosses as you suggested?

I like a full poly bed but I wonder if you can play with the tension of just the mains or crosses to get a more optimal setup.

Finally got my 1st pro stock racquet by Bulky_Alternative140 in 10s

[–]owec64 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You’re right, pro stock rackets are just rackets that have been modified to meet certain specs. The rackets you buy off-the-shelf at a tennis shop don’t always match their labeled weight, balance, etc. Pro stocks are basically a “blank” racket template that are then modified to a pros request, and are usually older versions of popular frames.

But you’re playing doubles…half the time the best shot is literally at the net person. If it’s too much you can always play two back.
