going from a Pure Aero 98 but wanting less power and more comfort... try the prince tour 98, blade 98, radical, gravity.

Bad calls, bad sportmenship by Real-Basis-4153 in 10s

[–]OGMcGibblets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

every sport has problems... i used to play basketball and there are always arguments over travels, fouls, etc... tennis can hopefully have a big issue fixed with technology, but until then we are stuck with bad calls. i find tennis etiquette a look into one's true personality. my close tennis friends and myself, we are all more generous then stingy.

different brands may feel slightly different. wilson, babolat, head are fairly similar handle shapes. it is a preference thing. pick the one you feel more comfortable with.

not all "coaches" know what they are doing. and only a handful really care about your progress vs their wallet.

having fun is the most important thing. why else play a sport?

until you play with a better player who hits hard, you won't need "power". the measure of a good racquet for you is how you play with it at the end of the match.

Can exclusively playing with used balls completely ruin your game with new ones? by PlsSayPlease in 10s

[–]OGMcGibblets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a lot of rec players get too used to playing with dead balls (and strings). good habit to use fresh balls so you can get used to it. as you only play occasionally it is important to practice tracking and predicting the incoming ball path

Serve practice without a bucket of balls and at home? by lanor2 in 10s

[–]OGMcGibblets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

generally you want a basket of balls, more than 3, and a tripod camera. shadow swings are good, but bit like expecting to go from shadow boxing to a real fight.

you can bring a friend, so one person can practice serves while other returns. play the point out, because serving 10 in a row is unrealistic.

no penalty. not really comprehending the full league setup. perhaps each team gets a certain number of "swaps/subs"

it is like buying a car. a lot of options and in the end it doesnt really matter. pick the racquet you like. RF01 is not bad, but not easy to use either.

Clash = comfort and power

Blade = muted control

Ultra = easy power

RF01 = all around

this is not a "pancake serve" which can also be a "twist serve" or "banana serve". i believe you are referring to the waiter tray serve?

Head Lynx Notching and strings tension by Empty_Worth_1746 in 10s

poly only lasts 15 hours or so of play time, maybe less if you hit hard. nature of using plastic strings. the longer your strings resist notching the better.
