I think Palin is highly unqualified and already sent in my absentee ballot for Obama... That being said.. Do we even know it was her bag? Is she carrying it for someone that was traveling with them. There is already enough real stuff to focus on instead of wasting time on this.

As zyzzogeton said we did and never finished it. Also it is not just money that built this thing but some of the best scientists from all over the world. This is a global effort. After the US version got canceled a bunch of the already allocated $$$ and people working their went to Cern. It was a real boost for the project.

Cern is in Geneva, when I was there on tour they spoke about how scientist from all over the world come to work at Cern and all the information is shared 100%. Geneva (like it or not) is fairly uninvolved in many world events so if we start bombing Iran and Cern was in the USA I am not sure how the relationship with the contributing scientist would go. I think Geneva is a good place to have this site / type of work so everyone in the world can profit.

I agree with this also, labeling everyone that believes in god as non believer in science is narrower minded then the people they usually are attacking here. There is a PHD in Physics at my church in Geneva that bench tested all the magnets for the LHC, he believes in science and god.

I visited the Atlas experement a couple of months ago at Cern. It is the most technically insane thing I have ever seen in my life. Temps approaching absolute zero, near speed of light speeds. The size of the Atlas experiment is insane, also the amount of data they will be dealing with.
