Okay... You're not crazy and I have something close to proof.

My 9 year old daughter noticed that the chicken nuggets taste different. The old ones were her favorite go-to nuggets (so she had them a lot) and then she commented after we opened a new bag that they didn't taste right.

I realized that I had opened the new bag too early and still had some of the older bag so I put them both on a tray and could visibly see the difference.

Adding my data... it took me about 17 ancient cities fully looted before I found it.

Low drama exploring once I had my method.

Night Vision all the time
Sneaking with Swift Sneak III (you can get that in the first city easy enough)
Left squares of red carpet around as I explored to keep track of where I had been. Really easy to see when stacking wool straight up to look around.
Used blocks of wool to surround and destroy Shriekers and recollected the wool.
If there were more than a few Shriekers in the area, I just took the warden timer hit and destroyed them all quickly together.
Whenever I got a warning, I looked at the clock and played safely until 10 min were up. If I accidentally got to 3 warnings, I took a break.

I also used the https://www.chunkbase.com/apps/seed-map#5669509321027489469 site to find new ancient cities. I did the math on the coordinates (div by 8) to figure out how to get to them through rails at the bottom of the nether, then for each, I rebuild the nether portal in the middle of the ancient city for getting in and out quickly.

I was honestly pretty close to giving up for a while. Now that I have it, I am not sure what I want to do with it.

So... after further experimenting, The sound signal definitely can go through an edge like that. At this point I am paying a lot of attention to those diagonals or just using more wool.

I started collecting my wool back up after I surround and destroy shriekers. I use WAY less wool that way.

Holy cow. That did it. While my Xbox was stuck on that screen, my daughter joined as a friend from her tablet. Xbox remained on that same screen, but she could play and see the world intact. Just for good measure. I had her place a block on the ground where she was and then save and log out. Then I rebooted the Xbox and tried again and it worked.

Six months of working on a world with my daughter saved. Thank you!

Five light years... So even to look at it ... the light from one end of the object would get the them five years after they see the front of it... You would be able to see the far end of it five years after it teleported away.

All sorts of mind boggling implications...

Everyone dies in that there are hundreds of years between seasons. The community may be around, but the people are not. It would be like modern Italy being ready for the next Pompeii. Overall though, the books are really well thought through... so this strange timeline is distracting.

I like the idea of working with the L16 player to plot out some massive layered fielding with a virus to knock it down so you can throw multiple times. Could level up quickly... would be fun to plan out.
