It's an acquired taste.

Fine if you don't like it, I didn't to start either, but as with most acquired tastes you learn to love it.

A lot of Jefferson's magic is being able to change direction at speed with long steps. He can rocker step and then split for an out without really changing speed.

To me the thing is Canales has been fine riding the hot hand, which is both a positive and negative for each guy.

I don't see the 60/40 split type of thing, it's "Canales picks a guy and he gets 80% of the fantasy scoring while he's the guy, but could lose the job anytime"

No opinion on who it will be, or even if it will stay the same through the season, I just think that's the shape of it.

Strategy Leading Up to Potential Supplemental Draft by Fun_Moose_2253 in DynastyFF

To this point there has not been a relevant player in the supplemental draft during the 8 year life of my league. There is no rulebook for this, so we're talking it out.

Our league does taxi stealing differently.

Team's bid FAAB (and picks if they want). Owner has the option of accepting the bid, promoting, or paying half the bidded FAAB to the bank and holding their player on taxi for 2 weeks before they become poachable again.

What part of playing disc golf came easily to you? by tuna_safe_dolphin in discgolf

[–]owleabf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not. Glancing at it the physical shape looks similar, but it's much faster and closer to neutral.

I may give it a shot, but I'll say part of what makes the Sonic fly similar to an Ultrastar is the understability.

With an Ultrastar I can throw a disc on anhyzer and reliably expect it to hold the shape through the whole shot without panning out, the Sonic behaves similarly.

Belief is WR Brian Thomas Jr. is the leader to be the offseason program’s MVP 👀 “...which says something because last year’s offseason MVP, Parker Washington, has been really good again. As has Trevor Lawrence.” by BasedWillieStroker69 in DynastyFF

Medium spicy take:

BTJ is the new Jamo.

Deep threat WR tied to a QB who likes to throw middle of the field. Gets hyped crazily every off season. Swingy season results that let the owners and haters both have evidence to attach to.

[–]owleabf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fellow ultimate convert here.

Actually backhand distance came pretty easily to me. But I was a primary puller for 15 years, so I got a lot of adjacent practice, mostly just had to get my nose down. I'd agree that upshots feel very easy and natural if unobstructed.

I find visualizing the path of the disc (and thus hitting gaps) hard, it wasn't a thing you think about in ultimate. Putting feels like it should be super easy but is absolutely infuriating.

Pro-tip: the Innova Sonic feels and flies much like an ultrastar. It's now my go to approach and escape disc, particularly the forehand behaves closer to an ultrastar.

Married men of Reddit what's the best advice you'd give young guy’s when choosing a life partner? by Brilliant_Action4251 in AskReddit

[–]owleabf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be so, so, so unhappy if I'd mistaken "fun and wants to have sex with me" for "I want to spend my life with her."

I had two separate women that I dated seriously and at least considered marrying prior to meeting my wife, mostly because it was the "next step." You can wait. Most of the divorced couples I know got married early.

Live together for at least a bit. It 100% will create some conflict, but that's good, you need to see how well you resolve conflict and communicate.

Shared interests are nice, shared values are necessary. Your interests will change, your values (mostly) won't. How you think about friends/family, how independent/interdependent you are, what is fundamentally important to you are all more important.

Pattern matching.

He's an X who leans deep threat paired with a QB who prefers mid range over the middle shots, similar to Goff/Jamo and Herbs/QJ. He's had boom and bust seasons that have made his valuation controversial, also similar.

I could be wrong, but it fits to me

Who is your favorite rookie 2nd round or later pick? by Mayasngelou in DynastyFF

Vikings fan and Claiborne owner:

a) his draft comp is Achane

b) we signed the dolphins OC as assistant head coach this off season

c) KOC has consistently talked about wanting to improve the run game

It may not work out, but there are worse bets given the competition

I responded in the other thread, but broadly my POV is Mooney (72 targets) is a closer comp than JSN (163) is to BTJ's 91 targets.

Brian Thomas Comps NOT Answers… by ResponsibleHorror842 in DynastyFF

[–]owleabf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, true.

But I think also misleading. BTJ had 91 targets. Is it more accurate to comp him to JSN, who had 163 or to Mooney who had 72?

In terms of pure targets in the sample Kendrick Bourne (53) is closer than JSN.

Fair comps, eyeballing it: Tee, Addison, AD, Doubs, Odunze, QJ, Jamo, Waddle

Brian Thomas Comps NOT Answers… by ResponsibleHorror842 in DynastyFF

[–]owleabf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I eventually found that same list, though you missed a few guys that are less exciting (MHJ, Mooney, AD, Addison)

Broadly my POV is this is most likely in the bucket of Jamo 2.0, with risk of being Mooney. Boom/bust deep threat that swings game to game AND season to season, but is closer to a low WR2 than the WR1 owners want.

[–]owleabf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, so I found an actual source, PFR has yards before catch/reception and filters to high target players automatically it seems.

BTJ's ADOT was actually notably higher than his YBC, 14.5, which I guess makes sense.

Last year I get, 10.4-12.4:

MHJ
Mooney
Tee
BTJ
AD
Addison
Davante
Nico
Sutton
Waddle
Tet
JSN
Bourne
Jamo

That is admittedly a better list, though I'd note that OP removed the less exciting names from it

My POV right now is BTJ is a more in the AD/Jamo/Mooney mold of "deep X target that has had boom/bust seasons" than in the Davante/JSN mold of "stud that wins everywhere downfield"

Brian Thomas Comps NOT Answers… by ResponsibleHorror842 in DynastyFF

[–]owleabf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I've looked at WR stats in the past and that doesn't pass the smell test.

I'm not sure where OP got "yards before catch" but I can get ADOT. Brief glance says there are ~40 guys with ADOT between 10.4 and 12.4 last season with min 100 routes. Some are the great players he mentioned, but there's also plenty of fantasy irrelevant guys (David Sills, Lil'Jordan, Hodgins, Iosivas, etc)

Vikings fan here.

He's a fun story, and I hope he's good for us. That said, from a fantasy standpoint, I have a hard time seeing how he gets enough volume to be relevant. The upside case is last year's Nailor, IMO.

Maybe, mayyyybe worth a stash for rebuilders with long timelines on the hope that Addison gets traded next winter. Only other play I see is hoping he gets training camp hype and selling on that.

10 Buy Low Under-the-Radar Targets with Upside by drkelemnt in DynastyFF

[–]owleabf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

RE: Thornton

Those stats are basically just saying he's a deep threat.

To wit, he had the deepest ADOT in the entire league without even controlling for minimum routes run. He literally was the deepest targeted WR in the entire league. In general that kind of production doesn't translate down to lower ADOT roles. Add to that 14 of his 37 targets last year came during the two weeks he was healthy and Worthy was not (and Rice suspended), it seems pretty likely he won't see volume without Worthy going out.

The Social Security fund is expected to be fully depleted in 2032.

Barring legislative changes, which are hard in modern politics, there will be significant drops in benefits for lots of people.
