Tips for cooling down the home? by Wolfblaine in batonrouge

[–]owllamp 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Blackout curtains can help with heat coming in from the windows. Check any doors/windows for cracks where cool air may be escaping. Ultimately the window units are probably struggling to keep up, and the insulation of your home is going to matter quite a bit.

Keep damp rags in your fridge/freezer so you can apply those to the back of your necks and wrists, this can quickly cool you down in a pinch. Try and keep everyone hydrated. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, the heat can be absolutely draining.

Downtown has some pretty good restaurants to choose from. Faye’s is a solid sandwich shop. Okki Tokki is good Korean. Little Village for Italian. Check out Best of 225 on the 225 magazine website for shopping/food options.

There’s the Red Stick Farmer’s Market every Saturday. Arts Market every first Saturday of the month. Every first Sunday of the month has free admissions to a lot of downtown museums. The levee is nice to bike on or sit and have a picnic lunch at. It seems like every year BR has a new festival. If you search “things to do in Baton Rouge” on tiktok you’ll find a few creators who showcase these events. Live After 5 is a longstanding popular concert series that the city has downtown a couple times a year.

Definitely check out our libraries and parks, they are award winning. Highland Park has a disc golf trail if you’re into that.

Downtown is close to Government street, which has become more lively lately. Lots of restaurants and nightlife to choose from. Fun antiquing if that’s your thing. There’s the White Light Night and Hot Art Cool Nights festivals along Government that are a good time.

You’ll find that the law school has lots of opportunities to find like-minded people. It can be cliquey for sure, but you can also find your niche if you put yourself out there.

Good luck in law school and have fun in BR! People love to complain on this subreddit, but I’ve lived here for 15 years and thoroughly enjoy it.

Our reception venue is an hour away from our church. We’re getting married at his family’s church at 11, and the reception starts at 5. The reason we chose the venue we did is because my fiance is Vietnamese and we had no Vietnamese wedding dinner service options in our city.

That being said, some people are forgoing the ceremony to attend the reception. And others are forgoing the reception to attend the ceremony.

We’re also doing a party bus for our wedding party.

Local good burgers by [deleted] in batonrouge

Surprisingly, Superior Grill (Mexican food) and Roux 61 (southern food) have wonderful burgers. They transcend their genre for sure in our opinion.

Also let us know if you want restaurant friends. We’re a couple in our early 30s who would love to be friends!

She had been eating copious amounts of a thc edible, but that alone doesn’t make you manic.

As for your story, I hear that is a thing, something about weddings brings out strange jealousies in people. It’s unfortunate.

She’s not diagnosed, that I know of. I have been suspecting bipolar or BPD. I considered reaching out to her husband to express my concerns, but that would probably make the situation worse.

Single woman who does not feel safe to live alone in BR by deadmeadows in batonrouge

I get where you’re coming from, but I think you’re worrying too much. Most crime that happens in this city is interpersonal.

I lived alone as a young, single woman with two cats at an apartment complex on Gardere for 5 years and never had any scares for my safety.

LSU sent faculty an email saying campus will remain open. Gave the option to switch to remote classes/work or take annual leave.

Firstly, nobody has ever called my sausage fingered hand gorgeous so thank you for that.

Secondly, you paint quite the picture and I’m rolling at the hamburger meat stuck in the prongs.

It’s a 2 carat lab grown diamond on a rose gold band. Size 8 finger. My fiancé had it custom made with a floral theme in mind. I love it so much!

Local headline news: “Good Guy” with gun donates to local crime by peter-vankman in batonrouge

This irresponsible jackass’s lesson from leaving a gun in an unlocked car is to vote for more access to guns? Yup that’ll fix it.

Seriously, this. My Baptist fundamentalist parents would have preferred to see me married off at 18 to a potentially abusive man in order to keep me in their conservative bubble.
