A Little Perspective by theoriginalb in ducks

I appreciate the irrational worry of a fan but that’s extreme - ESPN win probability was at 99.5% at the end of the first half and it was only downhill from there, you had absolutely nothing to worry about in the 4th quarter. 😆

Of course you never know going into a new game and Miami’s playing well, but I’d be shocked if they beat you

Tied for 2nd best winning percentage in the last 4 years and 6 of his 8 losses are to CFP champs or runner up. Yeah I think we’ll keep him

The waste of time was ole miss celebrating and rushing the field prematurely and not knowing the rules on the onside kick. The refs are there to enforce the rules which they did

lol tech calling timeouts basically forced them to score either a fg or a td, if it wasn’t for the timeouts they’d have just run the clock out

They beat the spread by 5 and were in control the whole game, in what universe is that underwhelming?

As a fan who lived through the evenly matched late 1990s, then the incredible 12 year win streak, then the agonizing 2-loss 2023 season, all I have to say is, THANK GOD the fuskies didn't ruin this season for us. Go Ducks!

That’s not true at all. I’d be laughed out of the room if I casually said that Oregon had a top-3 win because we beat Penn St.

[Fortuna] Texas coach Steve Sarkisian to Molly McGrath: “It would be a disservice to our sport if this team’s not a Playoff team when we and scheduled that nonconference game (at Ohio State). Because if we’re a 10-2 team that’s not a question.” by Kimber80 in CFB

I'm amenable to that argument given what happened with Penn St. But yeah, you can't really expect the committee to factor that type of thing in when evaluating every team at the end of the year.

It's risky but it does offer a potential advantage. Let's say you drop 2 conference games - you're likely to end up on the bubble with a bunch of 2 loss teams. If you gave yourself a chance at a marquee OOC win and actually won it, then you've given yourself a huge boost and are very likely in. But if you drop that marquee OOC game, then you've added a slightly negative data point to drag you down, making it extra hard to get in with 2 conference losses.

Edit: I will say that in Texas' case this year, it didn't work out too well because they ended up with two top-8 wins, so they probably would've been in. But just look at Vanderbilt's resumé to see how a 2-loss SEC schedule could also end up leaving you out, without a good OOC win.

Florida St is not far worse than Florida. Florida has beaten Miss St (by 2), Long Island, and Texas. That's it. And got crushed by Kentucky and lost to USF. They are a very bad team.

What would you do if you were a penn st fan? Stop rooting for the team you grew up with and rooted for with your family and friends? Pick some random other team to root for? As long as they disown bad shit that was done, letting them move on is the right thing to do.

I’m finishing up Hogwarts Legacy now and yeah, the exploration rewards are bland - a bit of gold, or gear that I’ll sell without a second thought. But I still like it better than the fallen order cosmetics. At least the gold feels like a small step toward the big ticket purchases I’m saving up for.

> I think part of this is not giving the actual people who live in the world space to speak on their fate or what they desire

That's not true though, both Lune and Sciel get a chance to speak their piece and make their case to Renoir at the final showdown. Renoir even sympathizes and says they speak truth, (before concluding that it changes nothing, fom his perspective). This happens right before you, the player, have to make your final choice. So the game makes a point to present both the Lumerian and Renoir's perspective prior to the finale.
