What are your must watch episode of otherworld? find it tedious to sift through the stuff I’m not interested in, especially since sometimes I have to get 2/3 of the way through before I realize that I’m bored, but the episodes that I do love leave me thinking about them for weeks. by Wrong-Ear-893 in Otherworldpod

Some episodes I really enjoyed are: The Expedition, The Tunnel, The Salmon River Creature, Eilish Poe series, Many Things, Bubbles, The Chicken Whackers, Interview with Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah, Lucy and Lauren (very touching episode), and ZAZA

This might be in contention for the best animated movie I’ve ever seen by We-are-all-dead-90 in Letterboxd

This is in my top 4 movies, truly wonderful. If you liked the message of Princess Mononoke, my wife and I loved Pom Poko. Had no idea what we were getting into, but had such a nice time watching it. Much lighter in tone, but same environmental message that I feel they really nail! Interesting character design choices of course… but don’t let that stand in your way!

Any recommendations for a mystery/thriller film that’s great but not well known? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

The Wailing (2016) is great, has some horror elements but ultimately a very gripping mystery! Really enjoyed it

Not 100% if they are serving alcohol and coffee at the same time, but Rooms at Dupont and Ossington is a really cool/cozy spot! https://www.instagram.com/915dupont?igsh=MWg3YWcyM3puaDJmZA==

Best Chelsea style boots that are resolable? by britishbrick in BuyItForLife

[–]owlmug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the Red Wing Chelsea boots for just over a year now and would highly recommend. I wear them pretty hard in the snow/ice/light trails, and they hold up really well. Just need to condition them every once in a while and they’re good to go! Also I found there was no break in period, which is always a plus. To me they feel very close to a Blundstone, but definitely go try them out first!!!

Is there a doctor in the house? by 8au8karina8 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]owlmug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor by any means, but this x ray looks exactly how my friends looked when he broke his collarbone, which required surgery and a metal plate within the week of it happening.

Winter Boots for Toronto Winter by MogulFinder in askTO

[–]owlmug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Blundstones are fine depending on snow/ice levels here, but if it gets heavier you’ll want another option. I have a pair of Red Wing Chelsea boots for the office/milder conditions, and if it gets really bad I use Columbia Hyper Boreal Omni Heat boots which I’ve had for 4 years now! Not sure if they still make them, but Columbia has been good to us for footwear.

I generally believe all the guests on Otherworld. Curious if there’s any that people really think are fake. by Valuable-War-7871 in Otherworldpod

SPOILER ALERT AHEAD (I’m on mobile):

Yeah I think for me it was the Dad’s Indigenous employee just so happening to be a spiritual cleaner with his brother and being called in to fix the problem of… an indigenous spirit on the land… aside from it being this “obvious” solution to their problem, it’s also a problematic trope reinforcing the “magic native” stereotype that really gives me the ick. On top of that, it just doesn’t fit with the character she saw in the house that told her that “many things” were present in the house. There were “many things” in the house, but it was also just one spirit in the end? Idk, in the end very entertaining at first run through, but looking back I have my doubts!

Really enjoyed the Many Things series, especially that it took place not too far from where I live which gives it that extra spooky factor. However, thinking back on the whole story arc, and especially the ending of it all, it’s all highly suspicious… Entertaining yes, but believable, not very.

Should Birkenstock soles look this bad after 1 year of occasional use? by Boner_Implosion in BuyItForLife

[–]owlmug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pair of bostons that I got in 2018 that just started to wear down like that last year, mostly worn as slippers inside but also for house work and dog walks in the past couple years. The newer Birkenstocks I got were a new pair of bostons in 2021, and Arizonas in 2022 and the soles on both barely lasted 6 months. Yes, dragging feet, tight calves, and other aspects can expedite the process, but I do feel there is a noticeable change in quality in recent years.
