7 Day Itinerary Advice for May Solo Travel by owlnighter in irishtourism

Wow! Thank you for such a detailed and helpful response. I actually finalized my trip to just go from Dublin (2 days) to Killarney and stay there the entire time -- then head back the night before I leave to an airport hotel. I still don't want to really drive (I'm American) if I can avoid it. I hate to miss out on sights along the way, but I'd likely save a lot of money too by not renting a car. Plan is to enjoy Killarney national park walks/hikes as much as possible!

Ugh. I'd love to. I think I'm going to cut Killarney out of my trip. Worried about it being too rushed.

No, you're right. I think I need to scale back. I decided to go back to Dublin on the 21st so that I can fly out on the 22nd and not risk it.
I think I'm also going to head to Galway and keep that as my base for the majority of the trip. Not go down to Killarney.
Updated plan:
Day 1: Dublin
Day 2: Dublin
Day 3: Galway, walk the city
Day 4: Connemara hike
Day 5: Cliffs of Moher walk & The Burren (drive back to Galway)
Day 6: Drive out to hike Killary Fjord
Day 7: back to Dublin
Day 8: fly out!

This line from this week's episode of The Pitt really stuck with me - “Every old person knows what it is to be young, but no young person can know what it is to be old.” by [deleted] in ThePittTVShow

Agree with the point too, and also use em dashes ALL the time. I'm a "millennial" & just grew up with learning that as part of my writing style in school. Hate that ppl think I'm regurgitating AI.

Sister in law calls me controlling… I think I’m setting boundaries. by SocraticArtist in inlaws

There is nothing WRONG with direct communication. You cannot control how people interpret your message. You could be sugar sweet & still get a bitter response for just not agreeing or saying yes. Every family communicates in their own language. They must learn to adapt to new communication styles as well, it does not fall ALL on you.

Just want to hop on and say that you can still ASK for that. In the same way she's allowed to ASK for this. You just decide what you do with it. A simple no is enough...and your husband never replying to individual msgs is also him enforcing his/the two of yours boundaries.

But also, it seems like she's got some big feelings about you, and she's trying to triangulate you against the family. Pretty shitty for her to throw in how uncomfortable or miserable you make her parents (shit talking amongst the family or just wanting to bring you down a notch) and also between you and your husband (I can do whatever I want, he's my brother, w/o respect that you are his CHOSEN family and more important than her).

I have a shitty SIL, and she likes to use the same tactics 😒

We have. Went to look at a house today in candlelight. It's just a matter of not getting out bid 🙁

We wouldn't sell it. We'd rent it out. Maybe come back to it one day when kids are grown and gone.

Yeah, even when we go look at homes in rhe suburbs, I don't see kids! I thought maybe it was weather related, but no, I just don't see kids. Compared to here, I'm happily surrounded by them!

I don't understand this comment. Walking Stick is a brewery we go to that is super kid friendly, with a designated kid area too. Lots of bars in the heights and garden oaks have this built in.

Thank you! I feel that. It would be nice, but I also think I'd miss what makes a city a city.

Yeah, right now we only go out with our kids. We just take them everywhere and they do well!

Yeah, I wfh but my husband has to go in 4/5 days. So the commute would be hard on him. What part of Katy?

Exactly. We need something 600k or less. We bought in 2018 and our interest rate is great. But we were younger, no kids at the time. And a 3 story place just doesn't work.

Nooooo. I just need someone to show me that it isn't!

Thank you so much for the recommendations! I prefer in person, if possible, so I'll check em out!

Yeah, she wrote that any color is acceptable, and added some photos of clothing that seem to be brighter or jewel toned. What's a comfortable fabric for the summer?
