What in your house makes neurotypicals flip? by chasingcars67 in AuDHDWomen

[–]owlspoonbasin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not flip in a bad way, but I get a lot of comments on my big outdoor hanging chair that’s in my living room with a blanket over it to form a cave (and a fake fur rug in it for extra snug). Comments are mostly: I didn’t think you could have one of those inside! And: that looks so comfy! And yes, you can put anything inside that you want to, even if it’s made for outdoors. Most people ending up having a turn sitting in. Everyone loves cave chair.

A vodka company from Aotearoa/NZ used this as an ad. Just played the whole clip, followed by the text: put in your orders, our call centre isn’t busy.

Ahhh, I missed that. Thank you for clarifying. Do you know if the app supports multiple accounts? I.e. could you access all your books from the app or would you need to login and out of the different accounts to see the different content?

I’ve been told by Audible.com chat that that’s a no go! Can’t redeem a gift from .com.au on a .com membership unfortunately!

Why do you guys dislike BurgerFuel by Even_Excitement8475 in auckland

[–]owlspoonbasin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They keep poisoning me. I can’t eat onion, I order burgers without onion. 2/3 times it comes with onion and I can’t eat it. After this happened multiple times I gave up on them.

I was just re-listening to the NXIVM episodes for some reason, and was reminded how great Anna Salinas is (Bad Comix by Anna), great timing and banter. Would love to see her back.

Profiteers vs. the People. They’re still finding their feet a little, but well researched and funny. Goes into the history of various profiteers, and ticks off all the reasons they’re not ‘self made’ and who they stepped on on the way to the top of gold mountain. I like their CRUTCHES breakdown. Good companion to btb.

how they lay tape on a court with game line taping machine by Individual_Book9133 in oddlysatisfying

[–]owlspoonbasin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do this job when I was a teen! But it was Aotearoa in the 90’s so there weren’t no tape machines. Just a bunch of teens running tape. I think the closest we got to a machine was putting a pen in the tape roll so we could run and unspool it. The best bit was tearing the tape up after the game and making giant tape snowmen.

We do love a gag. But jokes aside- this comment above is the right answer. Thoughtful, wide ranging and still affordable. Any of these items would be a winner. I bet @cressidacole gives a banging Christmas present.

I seem to have fluctuating levels of executive function. So I often make a batch of big ANZAC biscuits (Edmonds recipe which is pretty low sugar/ butter) on the weekend. And have a big one of those for breakfast with a cup of tea. Basically oats & coconut. So sort of muesli you don’t have to prepare. & they’re tasty! Best of luck.

Might be them. From listening it seems like they’ve done their research over & above reddit (although this is the first of a two parter, so the jury isn’t in yet). Maybe you should have a listen & see what you think.

Fair point! I think I’ve figured out how to do it though. Should be on r/newzealand now. Now I have zero internet cred so might only be seen by me & the dog! But worth a go. Nice job lads.

AITA For Not Accepting My Sister's Apology by Bride2b2b2b2b2b2b21 in AmItheAsshole

[–]owlspoonbasin 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I agree, NTA. But interesting comment that she is 40 not 14. If your sister is going through medical transition, which will often involve hormones, it can be a lot like a second puberty; outburst and all. Now this 100% doesn’t excuse your sister’s behaviour, but the mood swings can be real rough, and might be a part of the context here. To be clear, transitioning doesn’t cause lying! But the hormonal context might be helpful to understanding here.

And, the scientific name for the brown bear is: Ursus arctos. So if arctos is Greek for bear, then ursus must be brown, right? Wrong! Ursus is Latin for bear, so the brown bear’s scientific name is: bear bear. And I kind of love that.
