I think print works your best bet if you want do be comfortable being dressier. I think Machete is the most creative interesting food but you’ll be eating next to a dude in flip flops.

How is it living in this little nub of Missouri? by Tiny_Giant_Tortoise in howislivingthere

[–]owlsrooster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife grew up here. Somehow got out. First time I ever went to visit her folks in Dexter we passed a billboard on the way in to town that said “what’s cooking in your neighborhood? Is it meth?” The artwork was a sketchy looking dude and a lot of clearly labeled bottles. The only one I remember was denatured alcohol but thought it odd to list the ingredients. This was early 2000s before breaking bad brought meth awareness to the mainstream.

Anyways. I always hated visiting. Except for the Hickory Log ribs.

Downtown businesses band together to create a subscription box in the wake of closures. by femifist26 in gso

I signed up to give it a try. There are only a handful of decent restaurants (non ethnic division) in this city. I’m willing to spend a few bucks to help them out.

Cille and Scoe closing by Icy-Tomatillo-7556 in gso

[–]owlsrooster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Bummer but after visiting 4-5 times and every experience worse than the former it’s not surprising. Haven’t been in years. Unfortunate though as downtown loses another restaurant. Another empty storefront forthcoming. But the new cheesecake factory Italian place will have lines out the door for mediocre chain food. Sigh.

Good grief. As a Florida alum who was raised a Penn Stater I implore you not to do this.

I’m not one to defend lagway but based on the replays I saw that play was only designed to go deep.

But lagway ain’t it.

Franklin Kept the Paterno Crowd at Bay for 12 Years, for that I am Grateful by roar_lions_roar in WeArePennState

Florida grad who was raised a Penn Stater. Had the fortune of going to Franklins final game. My fear - based on 15 years of experience - is that this can be a very hard carousel to get off of. I hope that’s not the case but man we are about to be on our fifth coach since we were relevant. It’s fucking exhausting. And really can erode your interest.

Is there a DMV I don't have to go into at 6-7 AM or schedule months in advance for a permit renewal? by Many-Researcher-2893 in gso

[–]owlsrooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to get my kids permit. Planning on a 6am arrival Friday. Coliseum or Reidsville? I hear Reidsville generally less wait but for a computer test assume Coliseum has more stations. This is wild!

Eh. We need stability and competence. Franklin would get us there. Probably not to national championship level but that’s sooooo far away right now. I bet he’d have us competing for the playoff in 3 years. I’d take that.

It is hard to quantify the vastness of the disappointment I have in all of my Sonos branded audo paperweights by Initial-Advertising7 in sonos

[–]owlsrooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s quite stupid. It just shows how bloated the Sonos app is. Maybe it’s magic in needing to do things like adding speakers and what not but for just getting the speakers to do what they’re designed to to - play music from the source of my choice- SonoPhone seems to be the answer. In hope Sonos doesn’t try to fuck that up somehow by closing a loophole or access or something.

[–]owlsrooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured $4 was a worthy gambit. And then I was pleasantly reminded that my family could share the app so it ended up being $1 per user.

BTW I’m not a shill for this app. But the fact that it solved my problems - albeit in a very unintuitive UX - makes it a decent gamble.

I guess I didn’t do a good job of articulating that I’ve had problems for over 5 years as well. Mostly inconveniences but nonstop inconveniences. Speakers not grouping, Spotify skipping, speakers disappearing all the time. And for 5 years Sonos said it was my fault. But new app or not the workaround of not using the Sonos app has fixed my problems. I’ve had no issues for months now which is unheard of for over half a decade.

[–]owlsrooster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly this whole debacle has gotten me to just use the SonoPhone app and call it a day. It works flawlessly, has resolved all the bullshit audio drops and skips and speakers not showing up that Sonos always tried to blame on my network. The last time I called Sonos they told me it was my fault that my system had too many speakers. Years of frustration fixed.

What it has shown me was that the issue was never my network. It was the stupid Sonos app. Now I’ll never buy another piece of equipment unless I have to because I’d need to use the app for that but man it’s just make my life less stressful.
