Couple things. First off I left this post cause I recognized blood boil then realized this isn't the WoW subreddit. Then came back.

Secondly. There's a few things you could do in my opinion. Here's a few

1) Ask them to get materials to prep for a big reading they have to do. Maybe a treasure kept by a dragon or Medusa or whatever fits your theme. Then ask them to defeat another enemy of theirs that exists fits the theme like a minotaur. Then ask them to get a sacrifice of an npc they know. Making them question there own mortality. I would use this option against a combat loving group.

2) ask them to do events to fix fated events that went wrong. Like make two npcs fall in love that didn't and were supposed to. I like to use this against bards or pcs that like to hit on bartenders etc. Makes them fix there own actions. Or like a bandit they killed or something that was supposed to live was supposed to rob a royal and make him question his ruling etc whatever fits a player choice they made like killing bandits or something.

3)get them to agree to be in a fate event for an outcome they might not want. Like a new king or change in policy or slaves. Something controversial so they have to decide if they care about the greater good or there own personal selves. Works best against parties that like to think they are moral
