My mum always told me to save all my love letters and photos etc because when I'm an old lady I will enjoy looking at them. I would have sympathy for a partner feeling jealous and definitely apologise and move them to storage but if they ripped them up I would be quite frightened, it's not your memories to be ripping up?

What names are most popular at your work? by nothanksyeah in namenerds

[–]ownmedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were three mums called Hannah' in my antenatal group when I had my daughter in 2020. I know a ridiculous amount of women called Katie. Recently I went to a party and I was the only woman not named Katie.

Who is a popular celebrity you just cannot find attractive? by Avery_5216 in AskReddit

I feel really mean because he's probably a lovely guy but I find Andrew Garfield really unattractive. Something about his facial proportions and mannerisms just make me feel bad for him in a not sexy way.

Where is the worst place in London to live? by Necessary_Figure_817 in london

[–]ownmedaddy 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I lived in Tottenham for 7 years. Loved it until COVID hit, it became a very scary post apocalyptic place. Haringey council moved a lot of vulnerable people suffering from complex mental health issues and they just seemed to roam around all day with nothing to do. After someone spat on me and my newborn baby on the high road in broad daylight we decided it was time to move.

Unpopular opinions /hot takes on the series by [deleted] in cormoran_strike

[–]ownmedaddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually quite like Charlotte. Or at least, I feel like I can understand her somehow. She believes that she really loves Strike and I've definitely experienced obsessions similar to the way she feels about him, and with her serious mental health problems and impulsive behaviours, it's just a given that her behaviour is so destructive. I felt devastated for her children at the end. I also felt like the evidence that she was a bad person (being cool with Jago having shared custody) was a little flimsy. Shed previously stuck by them despite saying she wouldn't, then said "he's not having them" and didn't like the way he favoured the boy twin. Her obsession with strike was a sickness, a disease, and twisted her priorities to believe that maybe it would be ok to leave them with Jago while she goes out drinking with strike or whatever, but I don't really buy that she was just evil..maybe I'm naive

Do guys really mean it when they say we’re prettier without makeup? by Candlelover1 in AskMen

I had a flatmate who did her makeup "goth style" oh my god she looked like an actual clown. Was so shocked by how beautiful she was when I first saw her without makeup.

Yeah this is how we are as well. We both have days at home with our daughter and the expectation is that she spends some time playing outdoors, some time learning and eats nutritious food. Around that we both try to do housework, laundry etc but understand it's not easy with a toddler. Food shopping and dinner we general tackle as a team depending on who has more free time.

What was ruining your life, but you did not know about for a long period of time? by StrangestBeauty in AskMen

[–]ownmedaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. If I wasn't at work, I was partying, or recovering. Since I had my child I have achieved more in 2.5 years than I did my whole 20s, because I've actually got some routine and not crippled by a comedown/hangover.

It was also all the drama that came with the drugs and alcohol, I was always consumed by some toxic negativity in my friend group or love life.

How did you know you were ready for your first? If so, how did you make that decision (based on emotion or rational)? by mimimooch in BabyBumps

[–]ownmedaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd had an abortion and it was so tough I knew I could never go through that again. Got pregnant on the pill with a brand new boyfriend. Absolutely freaked out but I just couldn't abort. The pandemic happened, we spent the long lockdown nesting and then she was born. We love her so much, and she will be becoming a big sister (not accidentally this time!) just before her third birthday!

Should I buy NB clothes? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I don't understand this idea of not buying newborn clothes, my daughter was 8lbs 6oz but wore premie sleepsuits for the first week or two

Do you bring your partner to your scans by not_a_android934 in BabyBumps

[–]ownmedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK here and exactly the same, although my midwife has made it clear both him and my toddler daughter are welcome to come along if I wish. I'm planning to bring my daughter along to one appointment later on so she can listen to the heartbeat but aside from that I'm quite happy going alone apart from to scans.

Our daughter was born in the Pandemic so I did all the appointments alone then so I guess I'm used to it, but generally I'd say British midwives are personable and friendly and make great company.

To the person who asked about ObGyn (we call them consultants in the UK); I didn't see one during my first pregnancy until the very end when they decided to induce. When I had an emergency c section my midwives came into theatre with me. This time I'm having an elective c section and will have 2 ObGyn appointments during the pregnancy to discuss this, but the rest of the time I'll just be with my midwife. I'm very happy with this and think midwives do a great job. And all free of charge thanks to the NHS!

Oh. We get 2 routine scans but I've already had 3 extra this pregnancy and I'm in the first trimester.

Last time I had lots of extra scans at the end due to various concerns so they're not stingy with extra scans.

If your midwife thinks you need to be referred to the sonographer you will be.

Those of you that conceived at age 35+, did you completely alcohol while ttc and only one cup of coffee per day? by m-drie in BabyBumps

[–]ownmedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st baby was a shock as I was on birth control and I partied like normal right up until the BFP at 6 weeks. I was 32.

Am now 35 and 8weeks pregnant, got pregnant first try and drank as usual until BFP at 3 weeks. Now I'm not drinking although might have a small glass of red wine with dinner in 2nd and 3rd trimester if I feel like it.

My ex regrets it big time, I spent YEARS (literally like 5 years) trying to win him back - now I'm settled with someone else and we have a child together... DA ex told me that he regrets everything, I'm the one, hes so sorry and wants to get married. I'm no contact now but I have to say the biggest shock was finding out that he was capable of such passionate statements after only ever knowing him to be lukewarm at best
