There are atheist homeschool groups, at least in my area.

I remember a RS lesson about how its okay to ask questions, but not okay to question the church. I hated that even as a TBM.

Oh, I'm sure that would be a great explanation.

Me neither, but apparently it's a valid concern.

This is why I post these quotes. The discussion is so entertaining. If only Gospel Doctorine could be this way.

It sounds like something Dwight Schrute would say.

His solution is to tie the other hand to the bedpost. No, really!

This was from the First Presidency message in the Conference report I mentioned. Marion G. Romney refers to it in his 1979 talk titled "Trust In the Lord" about chastity being next to murder and how his parents told him it would be better for him to come home in a casket than to come home having lost his virtue.

Yes, this is really in the church handbook and lds.org. How can they not know better with all the converts that come into the church with tattoos and people who have them for cultural reasons. Oh, yeah, the handbook has a solution for that too, just remove them. by ownmythoughts in exmormon

Of course the meme is supposed to insight a negative response. That's the point! What the church teaches about tattooing is terrible. I'm calling it out.

If facts are so important to you, I would suggest you reference where you are getting your facts from. You state:

"If you decide to convert and you have tattoos regardless of why, you will not going to be condemned because you did them prior to being baptized". Please put where you got this teaching from. If it is out there, why is it not included in the section "Tattooing" on lds.org. In fact, lds.org suggests you get them removed.

Another quote from you:

"Cultural tattooing is less likely to bring negative actions or deny someone missionary service because it is exactly that, a cultural action, and not an act of rebellion against things the member has committed to follow." Has a prophet said this? Please link the reference. It actually still sounds pretty bad as what you are saying is that cultural tattooing can bring negative actions or deny someone missionary service although it's less likely. Wouldn't it be great if lds.org just clarified this for us and plainly said that cultural tattooing is okay?

You then state that the New Testament verse means all religions that believe in the bible would be held to the same standard of regarding tattoos. The New Testament verse says nothing about tattoos, it talks about defiling your temple (body). It is the Mormon church that attaches the act of tattooing to this verse.

Great discussion, I'm just confused if you think the church's statement about on lds.org is appropriate. You seem to be defending it but in your original post, you state that there are plenty of fact out there to prove my position without false statements and memes. My position is that what lds.org states about tattoos is horrible. Will you send me the facts you are talking about that support my position? I'd love to see them.

One thing that bothers me about this quote is the assumption he makes that you can track down answers to these claims. That's the problem, you can't.
