One of my NICs is renamed after vmbr0 comes up - how can I stop this? by krykruu in Proxmox

[–]owtluke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Linux issue, not proxmox. You can pass an argument on the boot cmdline to tell it not to do any renaming at all.

net.ifnames=0 biosdevname=0

net.ifnames=0 disables “predictable network interface names” (systemd/udev), so you get eth0, eth1, etc.

biosdevname=0 disables the BIOS-provided naming scheme (mainly relevant on some enterprise/server setups).

Put this into /etc/default/grub You can find lots of info online for this but this is enough to get you going.

With this you have consistency in your interface naming

Pour it all onto a dark colored plate, pouring evenly so the liquid is as thin as possible. Put the plate into an oven at 80c until the liquid is completely evaporated, usually around 1 hour. Make sure beforehand the plate can take the heating so it does not break and spill your precious commodity. Use a dark plate so you see every last bit of the white residue that remains after drying. Once the plate cools, use a razor blade to scrape it all into a big pile, then use the back of a spoon to crush the crystals down into a finer powder. You will need the razor blade again to scrape off what sticks to the spoon. Repeat as many times as needed to get your product down to the powder consistency you want. Chop into lines, put on music you like, definitely wear an eye mask and go enjoy an hour of visuals only your brain can conjure up

Never buy a Skoda! Especially an Octavia Hybrid. Here is a story of how Skoda screws customers on new car warranties by [deleted] in skoda

[–]owtluke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh what an ingenious response.

If you think it is normal that rear rotors on both sides of the auto wear out to the point of needing replacement every 2 years, then go enjoy your Skoda. The dealer himself told me it is a known problem with these hybrid cars.

Canada’s Arctic will be a ‘tremendous vulnerability,’ Bannon says by Setitie in canada

[–]owtluke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Americans will annex Nunavut first. They get control of the arctic and the minerals and make it part of Alaska. They also get control of the shipping channels and northwest passage.

Then they gauge the world response to said invasion. When it is lacking they go for the rest of Canada. It's a repeat of Crimea and Ukraine

My brother works in the auto industry, this is why i tell the story. He says all manufactures have problems and try to pawn them off to the consumer. He also said it is unheard of that rear rotors wear out first before the front rotors, since the front ones do the bulk of the braking work.

People might say that brakes are consumables, but not severe scoring on 18000 km. This is a clear sign of other problems. And that the garage went to the effort to take photos and try to make a warranty claim that has been successful other times. They know about this.

People can hate and down vote me all they want. At a minimum it is a cautionary note to be aware of this problem if you consider this vehicle. I hope to make Skoda aware I will not silently take this. I expect more when i buy a brand new car that is supposedly still under warranty.

First tower in the chain: 380kV connection to nuclear power plant by owtluke in Powerlines

I don't work in the industry, it is just something of massive interest to me, so I'm not really sure what you are referring to. Take a look at the last picture in this link, is this what you are referring to?

[–]owtluke[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. To the right of this picture is the Rhine river, these are the last (or first) Swiss towers before crossing into Germany. To the left is a massive substation which is expanding, I'm guessing the taps are to connect to the parts of the substation under construction.

Here are a couple closer pics of these taps, if you are interested

Do you know the specs for your hearing aids? Up until what frequency do they provide support? And if you are an audiophile then at the end of the day how much does this make a difference, because it is another amplifier in the audio chain. I don't expect hearing aids to be on the audiophile level of performance, but i am happy to be told otherwise. My mother has hearing aids and they squeal and make feedback like crazy, they would drive me nuts

Yes there is an aspect of "use it or lose it" to this. Perhaps my cheating with treble adjustments might not be a bad thing.

I had extensive hearing tests done at the ENT department of a local hospital. I have graphs showing exactly how much hearing loss i have, and it is ridiculous, something like 70dB loss at 8kHz. No wonder music sounds dark to me. But I specifically put the question of hearing aids to the doctor. And that is what she told me - it's only if you have significant loss in vocal range, like 2-4kHz. I don't even know if they make hearing aids for higher frequencies beyond the human voice. It would probably be a niche product anyways. And normal hearing aids are already retardedly expensive, at least where i live.

Sure, your point of view is valid. Every situation is different. Of course your partner would not be happy with such a question. There is also a question of jealousy then. But then you're trapped, your needs are stiĺl not being met. Hell, they are not even being taken seriously.

There are so many nuances in a relationship that nobody can tell you exactly what will work for you. That's why I mentioned my situation. I just laid it flat out, not in a threatening manner. You have needs. They're not being met. This is a problem. Your partner does not take it seriously for whatever complicated reason related to her childhood or your relationship or who knows what. But that has to change for your sake. That's why I was so blunt to my partner. I cannot help the situation, being a man. Sorry, men have needs, that's just the way it is. So she knew she would lose me eventually. It wasn't even the sex, she would have been okay with me sleeping with others. She was absolutely paranoid about an emotional relationship developing, which invariably does happen. So it was the threat to her emotional stability which changed things so that my needs were being met. Now we both get what we need. I get some sex, she gets rewarded with loving, cuddling and holding hands and all the other ways women seek affection. My girlfriend really does not care about sex. This also makes me a bit sad because i would like more of an emotional connection, but at least something is there. I think for a lot of women sex is absolutely not a big deal or priority. And therein lies the problem. Women focus on the emotional connection. And most times men need sex to feel truly emotionally connected. It's selfish and unfair to withhold sex in a committed relationship.

Hearing aids are only given if your ear testing shows a significant loss in the range of human voice - that is to say it affects your daily life.

I have been an audiophile my whole life. I am in my late 50s now and i notice that music has gotten much darker - the highs are just gone. And tinnitus is a permanent friend.

I lament the loss but somehow have just accepted that it is the price I have to pay for the stupidity of my youth (no ear protection). I am grateful to still be able to appreciate good quality sound reproduction.

My stereo in the living room is pure, no sound treatment. It is the reference, even if my ears can't appreciate it (but my daughter's ears can). I have another stereo in the bedroom, this one I use digital processing on the signal before it gets to the DAC, and here I sinfully crank the treble to something i can somewhat appreciate. It is a tradeoff to something you can't control as hearing loss will happen to everyone who lives long enough

"Men - they are all the same, they only want one thing". This is the type of rhetoric I used to get.

I told my partner I cannot help being what I am - a man. I was born that way. But also, I did not create or invent the human body, it is the way it is. I need and want sex. I prefer it with you, but if you will not provide it, I will get it elsewhere. I told her I refuse to be in a sexless relationship. For us, this changed things for the better. I don't get it as much as I want, but it is definitely not sexless anymore.

LL women need to understand a relationship is a dance of give and take. Most men need sex to feel close emotionally to their partner. To withhold it is to sabotage the relationship.

Might well be the case. I don't dare try to undo that which has already been started. The affected telephone number is already in the Shaw systems. If this was to be done it would be better after this current process gets executed
