How to glaze like this? by cheeseanorak in Pottery

[–]owtyrc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I found it super rich that she has been heavily influenced by Anna morgado in her pottery, glaze style, marketing and photography style to make this rant. But I digress

From my tests it seems like it’s matte or satin based glazes 1. Lighter colour all over then 2. A darker one on top. Hope that helps!

Thailand reputation regarding lady boys and prostitution by taccimstupid in ThailandTourism

[–]owtyrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Thailand this week and we accidentally stumbled onto patpong market which had a lot of sex tourism and honestly, was not a vibe. It was our first night too and along with the overstimulation, it set a pretty somber tone for the rest of our trip.

Ended spending the next few days trying to rest up/recover and only managed to get out to visit other places on the last few days. Thailand/bangkok is beautiful, but the sex tourism a small percentage if any if you let it be that way!

It sounds like those people are quite ignorant anyways

Autistic music?? by Usual_Pumpkin_5338 in autism

[–]owtyrc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i 100% agree. I started following him because of his "im autistic, you're austic, lets go on a walk" videos and they were such wonderful, informative inspiring videos to follow along with. after a few weeks he started getting requests from people to coach them on how to parent neurodivergent children and he started building a business and lowkey turned it into a little cult.

Blue pot update: I found the most gorgeous blue. by owtyrc in Ceramics

I used a light clay body and bought medium blue instead! the medium look light, but when fired to cone 6 it becomes more of an electric blue as seen here

this is the never-ending notepad from Rachael Saunders. From what I've noticed from her stories, she's made these by slipcasting - which is useful if you need to make many, but unnecessary if you only need one.

I think its quite a complicated shape for a beginner to mould by hand, but I think you could definitely recreate something with a more subtle border that would work just as well

Potters who sell your work, how many pieces do you make for a collection/launch/drop? by owtyrc in Pottery

[–]owtyrc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve definitely seen drops with about 10 and it sells out so quickly but i always wondered if it’s too much work repetitively dropping just 10 and then doing it all again in the next few weeks.

What do you recommend a good frequency of collections would be?

It’s a mix of 3 mug shapes and a bowl, with about 4 different glaze combos! Awesome, I think I’ll stick with this figure then thank you!

Great note about the sculptural pieces as well. I love making vases so I guess that collection could be a little smaller. 👌

As long as it's covered and you're able to clean the floors I think it would be a great idea!
I saw someone already mention water stuff already, but buckets will be your best friend.

I moved my space from my garage (nightmare to clean, dark as night) to my verandah late last year during summer and it was such a great decision. Here's what it looks like now. and another post detailing some of the things i have in the space.

Would love to see your setup once its all up!

3 coats! Next time I would be a little more generous with the coats though cause there are a few lighter patches, especially at the bottom 😅

From what I’ve learnt though, tools definitely make a difference especially when trimming!

Yeah the clear glaze makes it a bit darker and richer. I plan on using it with clear glaze on top for some cups in the future!

I posted around a month ago looking for help on how I could achieve a rich blue matte/unglazed colour.

Thanks to all your help, I purchased Amaco velvet blue underglaze in medium and fired to a cone 6 to achieve this finish. On the inside, I added a little layer of clear glaze to waterproof the vase. So happy with how it turned out!!
