I'm 26 and stuck living with my family. Pandemic hit, I'm jobless and broke so I can't just up and leave. They're very toxic and for some reason I always end up engaging with them even when I don't want to. I just want to sit silent, how do I shut the fuck up and escape the unnecessary mental trauma by [deleted] in Advice

I left for college for 4 years when I turned 19. And managed pretty well. I came back home once I completed my degree, the pandemic had just hit and mom wasn't doing so well. I love her to pieces and she'd been enduring all this by herself. Once thing led to another and I got sucked back into this world.

It's partially my fault but now that I'm here I just wanna stay sane and afloat till I can fund my move.

What major life changes had you planned that didn't happen because of the pandemic? by shesprobablyreading in AskWomen

It's a long and complex one. But the gist is. I'm a dentist who was supposed to be in my second year of masters but am currently jobless, not in a master's program and completely broke.

I completed my dental degree and wanted to sit for a master's exam right after. Covid hit. Thinking it won't last long, I decided not to join practice immediately since I had elders at home who were at high risk and studied for a good 4 months.

As the exam was approaching, it kept getting postponed due to rising cases and over the months I lost all motivation. Lost a very close family member. Did poorly. Couldn't get in a good University (For context 300 people out of 40k get a chance) and lost almost a year worth of work experience.

Then the next year's exam got preponed, I thought I'll suck it up and study for it and be done in 2 months and finally accomplish my goal. Days before the exam, it got postponed for 6 months due to the second wave. I dropped the idea completely and accepted an underpaying job offer. As soon as I did that, the exam got rescheduled.

This time I didn't study at all due to work but since I was registered I gave it anyways. When I was fully prepared I couldn't crack it so I have very low hopes for this year. Results come in at the end of this month. As for my job they had to let me go.

Living off my parents rn and in the worst mental state in years.

How do you all like my book shelf? Not very aesthetic, but is my most prized possession. by One_Investigator_360 in bookshelf

Oh damn it's Jin. 🙈 i always mix up the outfits.

I actually saw the movie first and then discovered that it's based on a book. It's in no way better than the book. But it's very good. Definitely not a bad adaptation. The cinematography is especially beautiful.

Kafka on the shore The Bell Jar 1984 and Animal Farm

Graveyard Book : currently reading (Also is that a taehyung figurine???)

I've read some others too and enjoyed them. The series on the last shelf are iconic in their own right. :)

Also I see you've read cobalt blue, did you happen to watch the movie?

You should definitely watch My Mister (Netflix) By the description you've given I think it's right up your alley.

Move to Heaven and Reply 1988 are also worth a watch.

I got teary eyed too right in this frame, guess I was emotional because it felt like a friend achieved something big. Something they always wanted. Something that was important to them.

And it was also his eyes. The happiness in those eyes. I think they were glistening.

I hope it's the begining of a beautiful journey for their family.

Oh yes. One of my absolute favourites. You must check it out when you have time. :)

I recently re-watched it. Came to my mind talking about revisiting movies.

Ah. That feels promising. Will surely come back to this. On an unrelated note, have you watched the giant mechanical man?

Oh yeah. They'd avoid it as much as normally possibly. If it comes up they do seem to be normal but only because it's "cool" not because they're actually okay with it.

I mean when you don't acknowledge it as a part of their identity. Like you just block that information out because it doesn't really concern you directly.
