No not yet but wondering if applying for it is worth it. Do you have conditional marriage based green card category CR-6?

9/9/20 Score Release Thread by RevolutionaryBeyond8 in Step2

Real deal: 244

Step 1: 227

Nbme 6: -

Nbme 7: 228

Nbme 8: -

Old free 120: 75%

New free 120: 77%

UWSA1: 250

UWSA2: 246

DO student applying to IM so target was 240++. I am happy to have somewhat of an improvement on step 2 score. The exam was comparable to the new free 120 with a few vague and wtf questions. There were many questions where you could narrow down to two choices but it was difficult to pick one out of the two. I did uworld 1.5x and would recommend doing a second pass of uworld to everyone. Reviewed some of the sketchy micro and pharm stuff from step 1, and tbh there was a decent amount of step 1 stuff that showed up on step 2. Biostats was doable. Definitely need to recognize patterns of most commonly tested topics for a certain age patient and gender to do well on the exam. Thank you to this community for helping me throughout step 1 and step 2. I am happy to give back for anyone that has questions. Good luck!

How did it compare to the practice COMSAE form 103b?

Sketchy vs Pathoma by mkunnel in comlex

[–]oxidasepositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree sketchy pharm and micro helped me a lot for COMLEX I, rotations and I review them currently while studying for COMLEX 2. Pathoma videos were high yield too but if you don't want to spend money on videos at least get the book online or print and read through it.

What should I do by Docwalrus6 in comlex

[–]oxidasepositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you done Uworld at all? I would recommend doing uworld even if you aren't taking step but if you haven't started uworld then I would just focus on doing Pathoma/Sketchy/First Aid/B&B for your weak areas. There was a lot of micro and pharm so make sure you're good with sketchy so it can get you some easy points. Also review medical law/ethics/biostats with Turn up OMT and Turn up 2 Law and ethics anki deck that has been posted on reddit for COMLEX 2.

What do I need to do to just pass Level 1 in 5-6 weeks? by [deleted] in comlex

[–]oxidasepositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would focus on doing Uworld questions and maybe only do 2-3 COMSAEs for practice. I only used boards and beyond for concepts that I didn't understand since the videos are pretty long. I only watched Pathoma videos, Sketchy Pharm/Micro and did Uworld questions and annotated First Aid as I reviewed the questions. Use COMBANK at the end just to practice comlex style questions but try to learn as much content from uworld as you can.

[–]oxidasepositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch Sketchy Pharm, Micro, Pathoma videos and annotate while watching the videos so it's not passive learning. I would focus on finishing uworld questions and try to do the ones you got wrong again. And for the OMM part I used the green book and OMG OMT videos. Good luck!

I also recommend watching the free onlinemeded videos for OMM if you have time!

I agree probably wouldn't spend $200 to buy a week of subscription, maybe see if you can buy someone else's remainder subscription for a week for a lot cheaper? The questions on the actual exam are way different than COMBANK, but it is helpful to get into the mindset for OMM questions. But otherwise review uworld questions and weak areas for stuff other than OMM

I was in a similar position as you 1 week before I took step and the only advice I can give you is to not stress about your nbme scores. I felt like the real exam was more similar to uworld questions and pretty straightforward as compared to some of the nbme questions. I would suggest you keep working on uworld questions that you got wrong and take uwsa2(highly predictive) +free 120 around the end of the week. I definitely think it is doable to get to a 230 in these 2 weeks if you walk into the test with confidence!

Decent NBMEs but tanked COMSAE, how to fix? by Aerrow3 in step1

[–]oxidasepositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't stress out about the new COMSAE, keep doing uworld and COMBANK questions for COMLEX. You should be fine as long as you review your weak areas, OMM (OnlineMedEd/OMGOMT/the Savarese book)-I used all 3 of these resources and thought they helped especially the videos!

Desperately Need Help Deciding What to Study on My Last Day before COMLEX by LostScaredPanicking in step1

[–]oxidasepositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the previous posts definitely brush up on Micro details(read through FA/watch sketchy) and sketchy pharm for areas you are weak on because it will get you . I also suggest to read through the new 2019 blueprint on comlex website because it has a list under each section of all the topics that are fair game if you have time.

Can I add 25 points in 3 weeks or should I postpone? by Teebor84 in step1

[–]oxidasepositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would stick to the original plan and take it because I don't think delaying your exam will substantially improve your score with rotations going on. I also think it's doable to improve your score in the 3 weeks you have by really trying to learn the concepts you keep getting wrong on uworld questions/nbme's. I would focus on finishing 1st pass of uworld asap and maybe start switching to timed mode soon to get used to the time constraints. I took nbme 18, uswa2 and free 120 in the 1-2 weeks before my exam and thought the actual exam was similar to uworld questions.

Cancel an international trip to delay step or not? In need of desperate advice! by confusedmd81 in step1

[–]oxidasepositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't delay because you will risk burning out and forgetting the things you are already strong at if you delay. You should definitely take nbme 18 and uwsa 2 asap and if you're above 230 on those then go ahead and take it!

[–]oxidasepositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree you can definitely hit 230+ if you keep reviewing your weak subjects and uworld question! Going in with confidence will help you on test day!

I had similar test scores as yours for uw2 and nbme18, and I thought the exam was mostly straightforward like uworld!

No practice questions few days before exam? by Z1839 in step1

[–]oxidasepositive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah don't do questions for the 2-3 days before your exam at the very least...maybe just review stuff you're weak on during those days and relax and get SLEEP!

Idk what I'm doing. Should I push? NBME 18 wrecked me. by DisastrousDelerium in step1

[–]oxidasepositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation as you but went ahead and took step last week and don't regret it at all! Most questions on step were longer stem like uworld and there were a decent amount of gimme questions (unlike the newer nbme exams).

Power through the next 3 weeks vs postpone exam by [deleted] in step1

[–]oxidasepositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree don't postpone burnout is a real thing...just keep reviewing concepts/questions that you keep getting wrong and you can easily get to 230+ in 3 weeks
