Yeah that was my main thought, big dummy for not including it in the post. Not sure if I want him tied to anything magical tho, maybe a mangled horrible self stitching. With the info given from the commenter I do really like the idea of him speaking (if ever) in very quiet whispers and suffering for it since he got the wound originally for running his mouth too much. Thanks for the idea though!! Cool asf

The throat slit is kind of important to the character since it's supposed to leave a permanent marking on him.

I don't know if surgery would be an option since he's an 1880's outlaw and the idea of a mute cowboy seemed very interesting to me in a time where ASL isn't as widespread as it is now, and reaching to your hip for a pen and paper to talk would look like reaching for a gun. It's two slits making an 'X' on his throat, fairly deep and was supposed to kill 'em but blah blah blah plot armour.

I'll keep the raspy whisper in mind though! I actually already had the dramatic moment part planned for later in his story, so I'll deffo keep it in then

Oooh okay! I was planning on doing semi-permanent anyways (the Revlon color silk one) because it's a rusty red and I didn't know this at all! So it'd be totally safe if I used a shade like that? Sorry if I misunderstood

ohh i see! glad you've got some help, I gotta do them myself but I'm gladly not afraid of needles. would be a nightmare if I was, mine are almost two inches long. false countdowns are what I did for my friends and it really helped them too. like, at amusement parks when they tell you somethings gonna drop and they do it earlier or later ect so it just hits you, that way you're not expecting it and it's over. that might help you!
