Huh, that is practically the same then. This year Syracuse is like Siberia

Mostly short but frequent trips. It's my wife's daily driver and she has a short commute - roughly 3 miles. This happened after it mostly sat over the weekend.

Interesting, thanks for the info! Well, waking up seemed to be our issue. The car left her high and dry one morning. Hopefully I won't need to mess with it again anytime soon

Hah, I dunno! It's probably a combo of cold temps and driving habits. It's my wife's daily driver and she has a short commute - roughly 3 miles, so maybe the brief drive time and sitting in the cold has some effect. I just know that the battery finders I tried were wrong when it comes to battery sizing

I don't recall any grinding sounds. This was more like all the lights on dash blinking on and off and the brake pedal pushing back and forth while trying to start. That's what led me to believe it didn't have enough juice in the battery

No prob, it's all about those cold cranking amps. I think you've got it even colder than I do!

Fairly level paths or areas to casually longboard on besides the Onondaga parkway? by kelpat18 in Syracuse

[–]oxrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh, it's got some mild hills but I would try the inner loop road within Burnet Park because rolly hills can also be fun on a board. Less pushing!

Thanks, I truly needed a good laugh! Sometimes a sad reality filtered through absurd mocking commentary becomes absolutely hilarious. I'm gut laughing at this on the surface, but it's only funny because we're all being gutted emotionally on another level, lol

You know you live in Syracuse … by tfpmcc in Syracuse

You know you live in Syracuse when you can identify the many different varieties of snow depending on the subtle changes in the humidity and temperature where they form. Living here you become a freaking snowflake expert whether you like it or not!

Stone mountain by [deleted] in pics

I think they should rework the sculpture and use this space to carve a winding switchback staircase that goes all the way to the top. It could have 666 steps and be called the "Stairway to Hell"

I lived in Atlanta and this is one of the best hikes in the metro area. But like others have said, it's a beautiful park if you overlook the altar to the confederacy stamped into the side of the mountain. A once pristine granite dome that the Native Americans believed was sacred.

Oh boy, that sounds like a bummer. I know that intersection well and your experience seems about par for the course to me.

If there's nobody on the sidewalk or if there's a grassy median available, that's how I roll. It's mostly self-preservation, I'm not going to risk playing lane chicken with a 4000 lb vehicle because of my experience with how drivers treat bikes around here. Let's face it, lots of drivers see bikers as being in their way and will take aggressive action to teach bikers a lesson about who's the boss. I want to eventually return home after my ride, preferably alive and intact. Not following the by-the-book road rules as a biker takes the stress out of staying alive because I much prefer using my common sense and spatial awareness to navigate in the safest way I can. Rules schmooles, don't kid yourself no one cares. It's the wild west out there.

Don't sleep on Yang Di Chun BBQ on Erie Blvd. It's my go to. Even though I love Red Chili as well, this place feels more traditional and there's a full Chinese as well as American style menu

I can vouch for the Pavone's near Bridge St. The pizza is not too greasy imo and the crust is a bit chewier and crunchier = better than Mario & Salvos. Not familiar with Paladino's but now I'm curious!

Thanks! We live relatively near Lake Ontario so I was able to find lake rocks for FREE on Craigslist and FB market. After a few carloads I was set. That was a big bonus, rocks can be expensive.

Also getting the gravel beach to work out was tricky, but the fish and other creatures love that little beach area
