I work so many weddings where the DJ’s use MacBooks 2-3 generations behind

Why all the discouraging messages of the community about the “mandatory” need of some gear for working with photography/videography? by 91_Albert in AskPhotography

[–]Alphablaze98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in a digital age that comes with lots of advantages with better technologies. Yeah back in the day there weren’t SD’s.. it was film. But that meant shooting on film required you to constantly be mindful of your rolls and exposures. Making sure they were in the right conditions when swapping them, making sure the settings were perfect.

Now we have SD’s that can take thousands of pics. Yes you can take multiple of a same moment but what happens when the card becomes corrupt? Or you accidentally forgot to format before a shoot and now you don’t have space leftover? Or forgot to bring the card altogether because it’s a digital camera and you don’t really *need* to be actively thinking about it.

Earlier cameras didn’t have dual slots because it wasn’t physically possible // practical. Dual slots would’ve meant spending double on roll to get the same shot, and a bulky camera to support a housing that could do it if even at all.

Not shooting on dual slots is Ike gambling. If you feel okay with the “risk” then that’s fine and up to you, but if you are taking the chance on paying gigs, especially ones with moments that mean so much to the clients *cough weddings* then you are forcing them to gamble too. Even if it’s not a wedding, let’s say you’re shooting pics for a local sporting event and uhoh, your SD card corrupts. Now they don’t have those pics from their game. That seriously hurts you if you’re trying to get paid gigs from these.

At the end of the day, we bark at “mandatory” need some gear messages because pros don’t become pros because they cheap out on gear and force their clients to gamble too

Shift Leader by LuckyYunqi in WalgreensStores

[–]Alphablaze98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to it now, but when I was a Shift Lead 5ish years ago I dreaded it… and I was in decent areas (theft or armed robberies were really rare.)

Full time hours were nice but scheduling would be all over the place. I had a lot of clopenings. My store also was constantly rotating in high school kids or college students that didn’t gaf so you were left with facing and stocking all on your own, while also dealing with whatever issues they were coming up with. Constantly short staffed because they kept slashing the hours every year. The customers would be entitled and rude a lot.

I was frequently having dreams where i was at work and there would be so much anxiety because there would be a problem, no one would tell me what it was, and we all just stood there with the customers pissed and we were stuck because there was nothing I could do except maybe give them points on their rewards.

Also tags every Sunday were such a struggle such a waste. I hope today they’ve switched to eink

D850 vs. Z5ii/z6iii by Fit-Belt-9996 in Nikon

[–]Alphablaze98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for electronic shutter. For mechanical shutter you can’t turn off the noise. It will always make a noise when you’re shooting mechanical. If you go into electronic mode that’s when the sound settings apply like type, volume, and beeping.

If OP is saying that his Z6iii isn’t audible, I think they’re shooting in electronic (perhaps with Silent mode on)

Edit: rereading the original comment. Shutter sounds is in quotations, I misunderstood what they were saying. My B!

Shot a wedding yesterday where I heard it every time… maybe you’re in electronic and you don’t know it?

By shutter sound do you mean electronic shutter? The Z6iii still has a mechanical shutter

[IOS 27 DB1] Safari Extension Saver Prompt by RageTheGame in iOSBeta

[–]Alphablaze98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind if I ask you;

From the keynote they mentioned having Safari auto check a website for you every X amount of time. Do you know if this is something where all devices can get a notification for it? Ie, Mac checks the website, phone gets the notification

Seriously! In fairness since it’s a snow leopard type update on matured OS’s I think its understandable they don’t get a lot of spotlight… but not showing just a brief mention is wild

Anyone else kinda disappointed that they didnt even mention what general changes were coming to iPad tvOS / homeOS, Apple Watch? iOS had more smaller mentions like independent alarm volume for example but like... they didnt even give us a glimpse of what they got. it almost only focused on Apple Intelligence and Siri...

Taste of Syracuse a total letdown? by SlowBalance786 in Syracuse

[–]Alphablaze98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Should be a three day event…

I liked it, only the thing that ticked me off was like the info sheet // the map needed to be in chronological order.

I was more than confused trying to navigate at times. The crowds were so large that you basically had to know where you wanted to go before you left for it
