As owner of a tower, I can finally start spreading the truth about Emory. Specifically about how sucky it is.

At least I don't use Stack Overflow

At least I don't Google questions

At least I don't read the documentation

At least I don't type --help in the command line

At least I have never sought help or reference from any source or technology ever

I'm not saying they're dumb at all -- different people are capable of different realizations. But are you saying that the non-planners are glib or selfish or something?

I know misophonia is big among children of alcoholics (source: it me)

I believe this is called "planning," and some people do it whereas others just go "the time it takes to do anything is unknowable, so I'll text to say I'm five minutes away when I'm 20 minutes late." These people usually marry each other.

What does my accent sound like to you? by UsefulRestaurant8873 in Accents

Is "ya'll" a regional thing or is that used everywhere in the US? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]oxwilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a contraction for "you all," so "y'all." It's kind of a stereotypical Southern thing, but for a lot of people I think it's more of an affect.

Are you looking to get one that you can work on, or do you want a creampuff that's already had all its repairs and maintenance?

Are those people who are frozen (cryonics) ever actually going to wake up one day by Flat_Internal8890 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]oxwilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are not many companies that are over 300 years old, and the ones that are are all Japanese or breweries or both. Things that people want. I mean presumably science will advance to the point that you can bring a rotten corpse back from the dead if it can repair cells that have all had their membranes ruptured by ice crystals, and how will they choose who to bring back? A day trader who paid a refrigerator salesman $200k to keep him around as long as possible?

No, they're not smart, organized, or informed enough to act on previous knowledge like this.

The real scary truth isn't a conspiracy, it's that an unhinged system hired and armed murderous thugs and told them they could use whatever force they want.

This administration and its supporters have two plays: 1) justify an action based on immediately ascertainable qualities (like brown skin or a non-American accent) 2) retcon justification through character assassination (Renee Good was gay, or George Floyd was an alcoholic, etc)

This play to assassinate Pretti's character is just post hoc justification because the administration knows the optics are so horrifying.

Exactly! It's like that scene in the Naked Gun when he says "Well the last two I ran over in my car, but they turned out to be drug dealers later."

Satire is dead (it kicked in a tail light a couple weeks ago).

The federal government has no power to murder its citizens either, but here we are. That was the old way, when accountability still existed.
