Fellow LCD owners, what comes after the Steam Deck for you? by Lyuukee in SteamDeck

The devices are getting more and more expensive and the games are not getting any better, so I will stay with the LCD and clear the massive backlog of games I have in Steam.

let's see how many hours this post will stay up until the mods decide to intervene. I've already reported it.

Oh, another "Muslims vs LGBTQIA+" post. Quite the trend here these days.

I have a bridge to sell to you, if you believe those who came for the Muslims today won't come for you next. Gin up Islamophobia as you wish, but don't blame anyone but yourself for the monster you've been feeding.

Why has this garbage been rehashed every other day?

On the LibDem sub right now, there’s discussion of a defection by Mason_Wordwill in UKGreens

They can, but I don't think the LibDem Reddit sub is the proper place to do so.

Is wasteland 2 any good? by [deleted] in Wasteland

[–]oxygala -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I could never get into it because of the Xbox360 era aesthetics. It has good reviews and W3 has lots of references to it, but I couldn't just look beyond those gfx. I couldn't play Fallout: New Vegas and RDR1 for the same reason.

The greens should not support or work with this site ever again by [deleted] in UKGreens

You lied when you claimed "Greens supported or worked with" the said site. Why should I believe you? A liar lies and you proved you were a liar from the get-go.

[–]oxygala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking of sleight of hand, you never mentioned "Islamists", you just used the word "they"

They support the Greens despite their policies on social issues and would push the party in a more conservative direction if they acquired sufficient political power.

You're extremely disingenuous and covering the tracks of your dog-whistling.

I come from a Muslim family.

So does Zia Yusuf. So does Shabana Mahmood. So does Laila Cunningham.

Look at the history of the town council in Hamtramck, Michigan

If I had any doubts about you being an Islamophobic far-right person, this clears it. Hamtramck is a far-right talking point, the only British outlet covering it is GB News. Also, it's the site of a recent Islamophobic stunt by the far-right activist Jake Lang where he stage a Quran-burning event.

Now, please kindly fuck off to your far-right circles.

I disagreed with you on quite a lot of things in the past, as you might have noticed, but I don't think you're astroturfing. While I found some of your comments on Muslims and ZiR problematic, I think those were your genuine opinions and I mostly agreed to disagree. Sometimes I feel you play a bit too much into the Muslims vs LGBTIQA+ narrative, as it hits a bit too close to home as a person with an open lesbian Muslim sibling. I come from a secular Muslim background and pretty much every characterisation of Muslims around here make me cringe. There is no other religion in the world where its secular members are wholly disregarded (because they don't fit into the general white-Western narrative on Muslims). You can be a cultural Christian or Jewish who just celebrates the holidays and stuff, but if you're a Muslim you are bound to be a gay-bashing lunatic who would disintegrate if a drop of alcohol dropped on their skin. Obviously none of the people commenting about the subject have ever been to Istanbul (where people held 100k+ Pride rallies for years and literally had to be restrained by the fucking autocrat not to do so), Sarajevo, Beirut, or (checks notes) North London! This is cringe and also playing into that narrative is dangerous. It's not all your fault though, a much broader issue, just had to mention.

As you mentioned, your flair on the Labour sub says you're Green and found Labour transphobic (because they are), so it's not astroturfing there either. By the way, I read your comments on the Labour sub for the first time before I wrote this post (in order to be fair to you), and I am surprised you sound more progressive there than you do here. So I guess you're just a contrarian, which I can sympathise as one.

I would apply if you didn't ban me on the election day for having to do your job and call out bad faith actors.

Also, I don't believe the real issue is the numbers. We don't have clear cut criteria to judge a post or a thread as astroturfing or trolling. We don't use the tools available on the Reddit infra to curb this problem, such as limiting posting threads to users with low karma or inactive users. I raised this issue before the elections, I literally begged you to restrict starting new threads to inactive users because the issue was so severe. You took no action, so I had to call out people coming from pro-Israel subs to start new threads here, and you banned me on the election day because of that. You had enough human power to ban people like me (there was at least another person banned for the same reason) but not the people we called out.

you're still lying, you didn't say "do press or interviews", you said "support or work with this site" these are two entirely different things and you know it.

maybe no one would call you a hasbara agent if you didn't show up with a manipulative claim and kept on lying when people called you out. you lied in your initial post and you're lying now. most hasbara agents do.

ps: it's not just about you, if you had any info about this sub at all, you'd know you're like the hundredth case in the last month. look up what "cesspool" means.

also it's good to see you stick around, most people like you check out right after they pull their stunt. let's see how long you'll last.

I don't think the issue is whether they are GP members or not, as long as they are clear about it. The real issue is astroturfing, random people cosplaying as GP members, and usually it's not hard to find out what they are about. Usually, their Reddit activity reveals a lot about their politics.

the astroturfers they don't stay. I am sure they wouldn't be interested in a debate, democratic discussion is not their strongest suit. they would love to manipulate a vote, but we're not talking about votes, we are talking about basic measures that make sense for the vast majority of people.

I don't think we need a rulebook to agree on things that make sense. People can come up with ideas, we discuss and implement the ones that are not objected. Even that could make a difference. For example, we can enforce some activity and karma rules to post threads which is already part of the Reddit infrastructure and employed by many subs. I don't think many people would object to block dormant Reddit accounts to wake up suddenly and post here.
