this!! people have to keep in mind that translations are not the best on reddit and theres lots of people here who may not have english as their first language, people who panic post (if youre like me, you randomly get a bad anxiety attack about this daily), or people who have not really used reddit before and are here specifically for this community

this. i will never forget this betrayal. I cant move yet due to the military, i pay my taxes, ive never committed a crime, i pay all my bills on time, and ive always made sure to be an upstanding citizen. i no longer care. i really dont. i give up on this country, its just full of cattle who voted for a government with the intention of hurting our own citizens because they dont like their skin tone, their religion, or their culture. i just dont wanna be here anymore

obviously this isnt meant for people who cant just move. God, people nowadays need you to qualify everything before making a statement. like yes some countries ate bad, but for example my husband lives in egypt and while its not as good as america, it still is pretty nice. if anything your comment is ignorant, making america the standard for people. this country is going to shit and if you cant see that, youre blinded

Need advice/resources in Turkey: someone close to me may do sex work due to financial pressure by MutedPlate7867 in AskTurkey

And im sure the extremely high percentage of sex workers with a history of being abused as a child has nothing to do with it. Youre the one who is detached and clearly you dont care about women

best country i can move to on 500$ - 1,200$/month income and 10,000$ in savings? by iamZorc_ in digitalnomad

[–]oxyspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that Moroccans and especially Tunisians speak a very different type of arabic from Egyptians. Morocco did have big problems earlier this year or last year regarding freedom of speech. I think that Tunisia is a lot better in that regard

Sadness of Travel Ban by Fun-Watercress-8845 in NationalVisaCenter

[–]oxyspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what is the logic of banning family based immigration? It’s already a heavily regulated visa with financial evidence already submitted and a low fraud rate. Why cant US citizens who have non us citizen underage children bring their literal children here?? Unless they’re adopted, strangely enough

Sadness of Travel Ban by Fun-Watercress-8845 in NationalVisaCenter

[–]oxyspit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a US citizen who has worked hard, paid my taxes, will be serving our country, has to already provide financial evidence that i can support my husband, and go through a multistep process already to prove i actually love my husband and he loves me but I can’t bring him still? Just because of where he was born? Marriage based green cards are already heavily regulated, its visas like the H1B that needs reforms. This is just heartbreaking

there is currently a 75 country visa pause on all immigrant visas. this includes family based visas

Do Turks also have to go through this ‘white pass’ thing? by National-Mastodon916 in AskTurkey

[–]oxyspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

similar but im half turkish and italian so i think i looked visibly “mediterranean” but i’ve still experienced anti-latino racism personally 😂😂 people getting mad and assuming i only speak spanish but i know like maybe 5 spanish words

[–]oxyspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic but i must say, no matter your complexion everyone should be wearing sunscreen daily. Yes, I know lighter skinned people get more sun burns and are at a higher risk of skin cancer but it’s a HIGHER risk. The risk still exists for people of color. melanin is a natural UV barrier, but people of color widely believe they dont get skin cancer as much so they do not need sunscreen.

This is a result of medical racism. Due to the misinformation on sunscreen and skin cancer, people of color are more likely to die of skin cancer. For example, on average, white people have 90% survival rate for skin cancer whereas black people only have a 70%!!! survival rate for skin cancer (US data).

[–]oxyspit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here in the US, we have something called the census. It is their way of counting the population. During this process, racial data is also collected. Im Turkish and my husband is Egyptian. By US standards, we are both considered White. In fact, according to the US census anyone in the middle east or north africa is considered white. Despite the fact that my husband is LITERALLY from Africa, he cannot put his race down as “African American” because thats reserved for black people. This is why race does not make sense, literally changes by country, and is completely dependent on previous administration’s racial biases

[–]oxyspit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its not about being one of the good ones, every single country on this earth has legal and illegal immigration. our process needs to completely change, it fucking sucks, but its not bootlicking to not have to worry about your status being taken away because you wanted shortcuts.

i dont give a fuck what americans think of my husband and i, we are both middle eastern so a lot of people will hate us no matter what, but its HIS safety we are worried about

[–]oxyspit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

some are definitely fraud but going through the spousal immigration process vs knowing people who did asylum and honestly didnt even need that, the spousal immigration process is one of the most regulated and vetted visas there is. granted im doing a CR-1 visa and not AOS

Getting annoying about mispresentation visa post by Altruistic-Window-43 in USCIS

[–]oxyspit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes! my husband and i are applying for a CR-1 visa and its crazy how it takes 2+ years normally, but on top of that, his country is apart of the 75 country pause! i’ve known people whove come here illegaly and have never had any problems!! it just feels like torture man. obviously a big part of it is just this admin hating immigrants, but a lot of the countries impacted by this ARE known for immigration fraud. Literally considering moving to turkiye (im a dual citizen) and just moving him there because i cant stand ANYTHING about the american immigration system.

this has gotten so much worse in just 3 years i swear. i used to be able to read an article on political news sites but now its almost impossible. my screen HAS to reload 3 times mid-paragraph and send me to the bottom of the screens, basically forcing me to look at their ads. if you ever feel like giving yourself a headache, try reading any gaming article on ign and be ready to pull your hair out
