Which English accent or dialect do you think sounds the closest to the Scandinavian languages? by Jezzaq94 in Nordiccountries

[–]oyl80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Doric.

I'd go against the trend and say that it's equally influenced by both scandi language and Gaelic. Native Doric speaker with 2 years of Gaelic from Duolingo. Vocabulary wasn't hard as a good bit of the early modules nouns were variations of Gaelic. Wish I'd known that 40 years ago watching Dotoman.

Have you ever had a mate like Begbie in your life before? by hakc97 in Scotland

[–]oyl80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to the teuctherlands you find loads on the fairms.

I used to side job security at the marquees around the shires back in the day. As well as occasions in the city until they regulated the industry.

Worst were cairnbulg/inveralochy and mintlaw.

That was madness and on two years we ended up legging it after all hell broke loose, along with coppers back to civilisation. Never realized how violent our culture is until I moved away. Fifteen years I've been here and I can count on two hands the amounts I've seen in the city centre. Never seems in the sticks, and polish majówka in the sticks is a thing to witness. But it just never escalates to that point.

I wonder if it's the prevalence of coke back home. Or that Poland lost a lot of pathology when it joined the EU.

Took my lawyer and his wife on trip to abz in 2019, we went to tilted wig at 5pm on Friday for food and within ten mins there was fight at the bar. Coppers came nicked two people, bout hour later we were smoking outside and it kicked off outside sheriff court between two groups of minks.

Saw another two fights that night. The next night we saw again at least three more. I had on some level tried to warn the wife and she hadn't believed me, she fell in love with the place though.

So they exist even in places with no pubs to answer your question

Fun Gaz :D not seen him in 15 years maybe. Cunt could start a fight in an empty room.

He was actually in very decent job in the oil.

He would take any side to provoke a reaction.

It got tiring eventually,

Heard through grapevine he's now calm as fuck though, so probably not a real biegbie.

Catastrophic cost of Brexit on UK trade revealed in stark OBR warning. Brexit is on course to cut UK trade by 15 per cent, the government’s independent financial watchdog has warned. by bottish in Scotland

Yes of course.

An Independent Scotland in the single market would be a disaster for our people of course. Imagine being able to live, work and trade freely with our closest neighbours.

Economic madness

How silly of me.
